本曲的靈感來自作曲者於新店和美山的賞螢經驗。昏暗的夜色中微弱的光點在身邊遊蕩，有時靜止有時飛翔。其中最讓人驚豔的是成群的光點組合：螢火蟲的飛行途徑因為光的閃爍被切割成分離的線段，而不同的線段以各自的頻率閃爍著，組合成千變萬化的圖騰。作曲家嘗試用不同的音樂手法呈現出同樣的景象，如：強調音階中的不同音高、強調和弦的不同部分。整首樂曲從象徵螢火蟲飛行的音階開始，逐漸匯聚成群蟲飛舞的景象，在山谷間波動，最後歸於平靜。

Inspired by the firefly tour at Mount Hemei, this piece portrays glowing fireflies roaming in the night. From time to time, the routes of fireflies are segmented by twinkling, and the segments with different glowing frequencies combine into everchanging patterns. The composer tries to present the spectacle through various musical methods such as emphasizing different notes in a scale or highlighting certain parts of a chord. The piece begins with a simple ascending scale, representing the flying path of one firefly, then gradually develops into complex patterns. After a glitter chord mimicking the fluctuation of fluorescent, the scale motive comes back and disappears into the darkness.

Fireflies 熒熒 orchestra (2022)

Program Note
       According to the Book of John story, this piece is about thirst and eternal life.
The dialogue between Jesus and the Samaria woman is divided into five sections:
      I. By the well
     II. Sweet and bitter
    III. Endless pursuit
    IV. Bipolar disorder 
     V. Rivers of living water
       To interpret the meaning of the story, scriptures of the Bible and a poem by Aloysius Bertrand (1807-1841) are quoted as lyrics text. As for music, several musical pieces are quoted, such as the solo pieces of Maurice Ravel (1875-1937). Both text and music are used to interpret the images of "thirst" and "rivers of living water". 

樂曲解說
       本曲靈感取自《聖經》〈約翰福音〉第四章的部分記載，故事內容描述耶穌在敘加城的井旁與一位撒瑪利亞婦人的對話，在對話當中耶穌向婦人介紹一個能滿足人對永遠的渴望、喝了就永不再渴的「活水」。
       全曲分為五個段落：（一）在井旁（二）甜與苦（三）無盡的追尋（四）躁鬱（五）眾江河。曲中引用許多與「水」有關的作品，並將這些引用曲目轉化、排列，來詮釋核心概念，呼應原文中的兩句話：
       『凡喝這水的，還要再渴』
       『人若喝我所賜的水，就永遠不渴；我所賜的水，要在他裡面成為泉源，直湧入永遠的生命。』
