The crucifixion of Jesus was an event that occurred in AD 33, which Christians believe to be the Son of God and also the Messiah, was arrested, judged by the Sanhedrin and condemned by Pontius Pilate to be flagellated and finally executed on the cross. Collectively called the Passion, Jesus' suffering and death represent central aspects of Christian theology, including the doctrines of salvation and atonement.

The crucifixion of Jesus is described in the four canonical gospels, has been attested by other ancient sources and is firmly established as a historical event confirmed by non-Christian sources [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. Christians believe that the suffering of Jesus was predicted in the Hebrew Bible, as in Psalm 22 and in Isaiah's songs about the suffering servant. According to an evangelical harmony, Jesus was imprisoned in Gethsemane after the Last Supper with the twelve apostles and was judged by the Sanhedrin, Pilate and Herod Antipas before being delivered for execution. After being whipped, Jesus received from the Roman soldiers as a mockery the title of "King of the Jews", was dressed in a purple robe (the imperial color), a crown of thorns, was beaten and spat. Finally, Jesus carried the cross to the place of his execution.

Jesus, que os cristãos acreditam ser o Filho de Deus e também o Messias, foi preso, julgado pelo Sinédrio e condenado por Pôncio Pilatos a ser flagelado e finalmente executado na cruz. Coletivamente chamados de Paixão, o sofrimento e morte de Jesus representam aspectos centrais da teologia cristã, incluindo as doutrinas da salvação e da expiação.

A crucificação de Jesus está descrita nos quatro evangelhos canônicos, foi atestada por outras fontes antigas e está firmemente estabelecida como um evento histórico confirmado por fontes não-cristãs[1][2][3][4][5]. Os cristãos acreditam que o sofrimento de Jesus foi previsto na Bíblia hebraica, como no salmo 22 e nos cânticos de Isaías sobre o servo sofredor[6].
