Anthony Yarranton - Soul Tax (Soulkeys & Hypnotic Progressions Remix) [Yang]

A celebrated release on the Proton Music imprint, Poison Pro & Miusha’s “Alien”, proved to be a huge hit among peers and music lovers alike. Originally launched in April 2011, the Russian pair’s work went on to see a ‘quardilogy’ of remix releases which included the talents of Kobana, Fiord and Shingo Nakamura among others. Now returning to the track, a pair of new remixes take centre stage on Yin : Yang.

Cordoba resident, Ezequiel Arias, is an artist with a significant degree of success behind his name across his native Argentina and beyond. Regularly supported by iconic fellow countryman, Hernan Cattaneo, on both stage and radio, Arias has been a regular contributor to the “Resident” show. With his music signed to labels including Dopamine, Lowbit and Soundteller, Arias’ work has also drawn further heavyweight support from Nick Warren and Guy Mantzur. Thus, the Ezequiel Arias ‘Re-Touch’ takes “Alien” on a smoothly grooved path that hypnotises through its throbbing bass line and percussive cadence. Using the melodic themes central to Poison Pro’s original, combined with an effects-laden treatment of Miusha’s vocals, the resultant work is a strong dance floor offering already supported by Cattaneo.

Alien (Ezequiel Arias Re-Touch)

Miusha & Poison Pro - Alien (Ezequiel Arias Re-Touch) [Yin]

Through "Coral Castle", Croatian duo, Pacco & Rudy B, oversaw a hugely memorable progressive house offering that was a highlight of the "Summer Particles 2010" compilation. Going on to see a raft of remixes across both Particles and Balkan Connection from Kobana & Yane3dots, Steve Haines and Nicholas Van Orton, Yin : Yang now takes on the remix mantle.

Founded in June 2014, Hungarian pairing, 2Dots, are relative newcomers to the world of commercial production. Well-respected DJs across their homeland, their Mosonmagyaróvár hometown on the northwestern tip, has provided the duo a headquarters from which to entertain a growing fan base. A single 2015 remix of Adrian Sarmon's "Beating Sea" for Color House Records is now extended with a new interpretation of Pacco & Rudy B's classic track. Gently opening proceedings with a clicking kick drum, a running bass line soon makes an appearance to augment the rhythmic underpinning. As the track progresses, echoes of iconic melodic lines from the original shimmer across the upper frequency range. A subtle shift in the bass line key from the mid-point onwards provides dynamic interest in a stripped back offering full of skill and intensity.

Coral Castle (2Dots Remix)

Pacco & Rudy B - Coral Castle (2Dots Remix) [Yin]

From the prolific mind of Turkish maestro, Erdi Irmak, 2014's "We Won't Sleep Tonight" EP for Intemporal Music illustrated why the Istanbul resident has been so sought after through a swathe of original production material. As "The Hit" now receives its own release on Yin : Yang, a pair of new remixes from Argentina and Hungary make their own contribution.

From the western side of the bustling Buenos Aries metropolis, N'Pot is a producer with a successful 2016 under his belt. His music "characterised by a dark progressive style", the Argentinean has continued to make waves in the underground dance scene. Furthermore, music signed to Stellar Fountain, 238W and Balkan Connection, has seen support come from such celebrated quarters as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Lonya.

Reworking Erdi Irmak's techno inspired track, the N'Pot remix follows a more leisurely pace than the original with lilting percussive groove and subterranean bass pattern. Rich melodic phrases, white noise effects and vocal cut swirl across the stereo spectrum in delayed and reverb-drenched glory, reaching their zenith at breakdown end, before rhythm and bass combine once more in the latter stages to hypnotic effect.

The Hit (N'Pot Remix)

Erdi Irmak - The Hit (N'Pot Remix) [Yin]

Paired with a sparkling remix from Orsen, Ad Brown's "Calibre" was a highlight of the Particles release portfolio in early 2016. Already responsible for a host of worldwide smash hits, Brown has never been far from the limelight, as Yin : Yang now returns to the track with remixes from Canada and Italy.

From Montreal at the eastern end of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, Elias Barouche has consistently made waves with his Solid Stone moniker. Beginning his assault on the progressive house and trance scene in 2010 with his first commercial releases for Alter Ego in mid 2011, the Solid Stone name has been consistently supported by big-hitters that include Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz and Max Graham. Furthermore, one has only to look at his production portfolio, to see the names Black Hole, ARVA and Coldharbour writ large across his work. Indeed, almost a half-century of credits for the Schulz-led label have showcased the Canadian's innumerable talents. 

Making his debut for Yin, the Solid Stone remix of "Calibre" is thus an epic offering, full of the trademark production skills that have seen his work so well supported. With close attention paid to Brown's original melody immediately identifying the track, a strong rhythmic backdrop and deep bass groove can be felt throughout, accompanied by a wealth of additional production material that is epitomised in a glorious spine-tingling bass line. Pairing rhythm and melody once more in the third movement, the Solid Stone remix is a strong reinterpretation full of skill and verve.

Silk Music Showcase 405 - Robert R. Hardy Guest Mix - Yang Edition

Rising to typically impressive heights with his trademark sound, October 2014 saw East Cafe release "Peaks & Lows" to critical acclaim. Remixes at the time saw Colourblock and Jarno deliver aural goodness as Yin : Yang now revisit the Hungarian producer's work with a pair of brand new remixes courtesy of Colombian and Indonesian artists.

Hailing from the cosmopolitan capital, Jakarta resident Roni Joni has made a strong impression with his work in the progressive house and trance genres. A regular across the clubs of his home city, the Indonesian producer has found considerable success behind the decks as he headlines clubs and festivals across the country. Production success has seen a variety of credits for the likes of Big Toys, Pineapple Digital and Silk, with the latter accounting for the hugely successful "In Between" on January 2014 with fellow countryman LTN. Moreover, the track also went on to feature on Armin van Buuren's "ASOT 650 – Utrecht" in May 2014. 

Making his debut on Yang, the Roni Joni Remix of "Peaks & Lows" is a richly melodic affair that fully captures the themes so resonant in the original. Euphoric sequences filter into sonic range in glistening fashion as a raft of additional production material from the Roni Joni studio, contributes to a sparkling new interpretation. Sure to find favour in dancefloors across the globe with its strong beat and polished sound, Roni Joni's work continues to find its mark with remarkable consistency.

East Cafe - Peaks & Lows (Roni Joni Remix) [Yang]

As the Lanvary ‘double-headed dragon' rises to dizzying heights, its assault on the underground dance scene grows in burning intensity with each successive release. The twin-track "Micromegas" EP continued that trend on Particles in October 2015 as Yin : Yang now returns to the title track with a pair of new remixes.

From the southeastern coastal town of Valencia, Spanish producer, Alex Vidal has been making waves with his distinctive brand of underground progressive house. An accomplished musician, well-versed in Spanish guitar and piano, DJ performances across his hometown at small clubs and private parties provided the perfect basis ground for Vidal to go on to produce his own music. Making his debut for 220V Recordings in September 2013, a host of top tier imprints have played host to Alex Vidal's 300 production credits including Bonzai Progressive, Stellar Fountain and OLD SQL. 

A debut appearance on Yang saw Vidal remix Embliss' "Stronghold" in June 2016 as he now returns to the label with a dancefloor-friendly, bass driven reinterpretation of Lanvary's work that echoes the themes resonant in the original. In conjunction with strong beat and tightly woven house groove, a clave pattern adds further depth before a meandering lead line makes its presence felt in the opening movements. A pulsating array of white-noise effects and spine-tingling pads create suspense and texture as the vocal sample, so integral to the original, makes its play at a stripped back breakdown. Hitting its stride once more in the third movement, rhythm and melody combine to find Alex Vidal's "Micromegas" remix showcasing an array of production skills in a mature and sculpted production.

Micromegas (Alex Vidal Remix)

Lanvary - Micromegas (Alex Vidal Remix) [Yang]

Weaving a magical spell on Proton Music, the twin-track "Divine" EP was another notable highlight in the career of Italian producer Andrea Cassino. Heating up the northern hemisphere autumn with its warm melodic sequences, Yin and Yang return to the track with remixes from Turkey and Dubai.

An accomplished DJ with residencies across the Middle East at Pacha Ibiza Dubai and Trilogy, Indian producer Ejaz Ahamed is an artist who oozes charisma with his sets alongside Maceo Plex, Sasha and a guest mix for John Digweed on "Transitions 610." Establishing a production career has been met with no less success as Ejaz continues to carve out an impressive portfolio with a clutch of releases on the likes of Hexagon Recordings, Qilla and PHW Elements. 

Already taking time out to remix Erdi Irmak's "The Hit" for Yin in July 2017, Ejaz Ahamed now follows up with a reworking of "Divine" that bears all the hallmarks of his distinctive club-oriented sound. A chugging bass groove provides the foundation with a cleverly programmed rhythmic framework wrapped around it. Developing gently, a swathe of white noise effects and intricate percussive cadence bookend a gloriously stripped back breakdown that glitters with Cassino's distinctive melodic motifs to provide a strong aural stamp to Ahamed's "Divine" reworking.

Divine (Ejaz Ahamed Remix)

Andrea Cassino - Divine (Ejaz Ahamed Remix) [Yin]

March 2017's "Lost Again" once again saw Canadian Tim Penner at his vibrant best. With its beautiful melodic phrasing and glorious vocal layers, the title track was a highlight in Proton Music's release schedule, going on to see remixes from Subandrio and Simos Tagias. As Yin and Yang now return to the EP, two new interpretations from the USA and Russia provide renewed anticipation.

Burning brightly in early 2018, New York City's Mir Omar "Suddenly" hit the headlines for Solarstone's Pure Progressive imprint. Seeing his work supported by the leading DJ elite including Hernan Cattaneo and Aly & Fila, Omar himself is no stranger to life behind the decks as his sets "create the perfect catalyst to intoxicate a crowd." With appearances at such famous NYC hotspots as Cielo, Output and Schimanski, Mir Omar looks set to continue his impressive DJ career with further success in the production arena. 

Making his debut for Yang, the Mir Omar remix has all the hallmarks of a gloriously smooth and emotive piece that revels with coruscating string sequences that herald Tim's vocal lines. Using the melodies central to the original, Mir's remix extends them into new and exciting directions as they build in the breakdown before erupting in the third movement with heavy kick and subatomic bassline. A ticking percussive cadence adds further interest in a remix that is an exciting glimpse of the U.S. producer's future.

March 2017's "Lost Again" once again saw Canadian Tim Penner at his vibrant best. As Yin and Yang now return to the EP, two new interpretations from the USA and Russia provide renewed anticipation.

Operating out of the Moscow capital, Serge Tolstov has discovered a rich vein of form with his Stendahl production moniker. From the fertile Russian soil that has produced so many high-profile underground dance producers, Stendahl is another artist achieving great success on the global stage with support from such leading lights as Armin van Buuren, Chicane and Above & Beyond. A professional pianist, his passionately crafted work quickly became a favorite with leading labels including Statement! and Enormous Chills, sub labels of Armada and Enormous Tunes, while some 40 production credits for Silk Music have witnessed a host of high-profile hits that have seen collaborations with Japanese icon Shingo Nakamura and Indonesian superstar LTN. 

Making strong use of the vocal content so fundamental to the original, Stendahl has created a sublime bass-groove that provides the perfect vehicle for an intricate percussive groove to sit atop. Tim's beautiful melodic sequences reveal themselves at the breakdown and a raft of additional production material sees Stendahl create a thumping dance-floor gem.

Tim Penner - Lost Again (Stendahl Remix) [Yin]

Roberto Traista's "Long Lost Memories" saw the Romanian artist create a moment of magic with his four-track EP on Agara Music in September 2014. As Yin and Yang now returns to the title track, remixes come courtesy of a quartet of artists that that span the globe with stops in Cyprus, Turkey and Argentina.

Mainstays of the Cypriot dance scene, Paul Angelo & Don Argento have performed across the island's clubs with their distinctive "dark progressive sound." In parallel, an impressive production career has also seen the duo celebrate over 75 production credits since a July 2016 debut on SANiLLE Recordings. Going on to develop relationships with a host of high-profile underground dance labels, Clinique Recordings, Bonzai Progressive and Soundteller have all played their part in furthering the pair's name with their music supported by the DJ elite that includes Hernan Cattaneo, Markus Schulz and Ruben de Ronde. 

Making their debut on Yin, the Paul Angelo & Don Argento remix exhilarates with its dark, pulsating sound that hypnotizes with a heavy beat and strong percussive groove. A rich bassline adds further weight while sumptuous chord progressions sweep through on a wave of emotion. Evolving superbly to a rousing crescendo at the mid-point breakdown, excellent use is made of Traista's central melodic themes to create an impressive new reworking.

Roberto Traista - Long Lost Memories (Paul Angelo & Don Argento Remix) [Yin]

Originally released on Forescape Digital in August 2018, Jamie Baggotts and his "Sacrifice" EP showcased the UK producer's strong production credentials in the trance arena. As Yin and Yang now return to the track, remixes from Maltese and Iranian artists make for impressive new interpretations.

With over 20 years experience in the world of underground dance music, Paul Hamilton's prowess as both DJ and producer saw him win a prestigious global DJ award in 2005, impressing the likes of Sander Kleinenberg in the process. A resident DJ across the "superclubs" of his adopted Dubai home including Ministry of Sound, Godskitchen and One Love, Hamilton's production career is no less impressive. A regular on a host of high-profile imprints has seen him amass over 300 production credits with work signed to Balkan Connection, ARVA and an October 2018 track for Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital as part of his "ADE 2018 Sampler." 

Following a pair of Yin remixes for Sapiens & Springa and Rick Pier O'Neil in 2017 and 2018, Paul Hamilton now returns to the label with a groove-laden interpretation that impresses with bouncing bassline and rapid-fire hi hat cadence. Building enticingly, the sumptuous chord progression so pivotal to Baggotts' original cuts through the rhythm section in unhurried fashion, coupled with intelligently placed additional production material from Hamilton's infinite arsenal. The result is a dark and atmospheric offering of typically high quality.

Released in the summer of 2018, SHFT and his twin track "Memoir / Second Sight" brought a pair of melodic techno gems to Juicebox Music. Now, Yin and Yang celebrate a centenary of releases as "Second Sight" receives a pair of remixes courtesy of a trio of outstanding artists.

A DJ and producer of considerable renown, Marcel Sterling has caught the underground dance fraternity's attention with his Marc DePulse pseudonym. With a mission statement to create "music to remember" through his unique treatment of bass, melody and vocals, some 600 production credits can be found next to the Leipzig based artist's name. He also finds his work allied to such reputable imprints as Einmusika, Budenzauber and Dave Seaman's Selador. 

Making his Yin debut, the Marc DePulse remix of "Second Sight" is full of the deft subtlety of the original and a new bassline groove is sculpted in impressive fashion with its roots firmly in SHFT's original. A ticking percussive groove adds further to the rhythmic flavor as the track evolves elegantly with each passing movement until a searing lead motif creates a stunning denouement.

Dialectics (n.) - the art of investigating or discussing the truth of opinions. The discourse between two people holding opposing viewpoints view but trying to establish a common truth through reasoned discussion.

Born out of the renowned, best-selling Yin and Yang label concept, USA and Spain create a musical discourse through Tripp Baronner and GuyRo. Presenting "Dialectics", a new monthly show airs on Proton Radio showcasing the finest underground music talent in two contrasting but inextricably linked hours.

Part 1 sees Yin thematically represented while Yang is juxtaposed through Part 2. Intimately interconnected while fluid by design, resident hosts alternate and interchange with guest artists to create a dynamic dialectical discourse, a thesis for high-calibre music to reign supreme across two symbiotic concepts and distilled into two interrelated hours full of technique, craft and passion.

Yin and Yang (n.) - the concept of duality forming a whole. A fundamental premise in Chinese philosophy now transposed to the electronic dance industry through the creation of Proton "Editions". Through encyclopaedic knowledge of the 2,000+ strong Proton roster of labels Tripp Baronner has envisioned a new concept of the principle of seemingly polar opposites, coming together as interconnected and independent universal forces - life and death, the dark and the light: one complete entity. 

From a passion for underground progressive house at opposite ends of the audio spectrum - the deep, shadowy atmospheres to the blissful, shimmering melodies, "Yin" and "Yang" were born in an effort to represent this phenomenon in musical form. Each release will provide a single remix of an existing Proton roster track for two inextricably linked labels in the form of a light (Yang) and dark (Yin) edition. Released on the same day, a strong contrast in styles will thus serve to complement each other and nourish the whole.
