Good Evening. Let’s get straight to it. We are now approaching phase 4 of our mix series. Unlike Boris, we’ve got one clear message. As of Friday 6pm, we’re bringing straight vibes from the second home of Noire State founder, and the ancestral home of Makina, Pease Pudding and Greggs. Pre-drinks from 3pm. Pub till 10pm. Back to ours for a sesh… to Dyslecta’s mix. 

With a cross-genre focus on Dub, Techno, Electro, Hardcore, and of course, Breakbeat, Dyslecta has cemented himself as a respected resident at the endless list of parties, hosted by 12 year old Newcastle legends, Ape-X. Releasing his debut record this year, also under @ape-x-music, Dyslecta is the latest unique voice to emerge from the North East. Taking influence from artists such as Drexicya, Claro Interlecto, Skee Mask and Hodge (amongst others), be sure to check out this belter of an EP. 

If you’re a fan of Hessle (like we are), the opening tribal beats will make you reminisce those good ol’ days (raves). Hints of colour emerge with the addition of chimes, and paired spacey steel pan breaks, the cross-genre influence is apparent. Dyslecta turns up the heat with the ever-humming bass, before ramping up to a techno finish. Dj and Founder of the radio show and event series Out of Space - Efa O'Neill has been pushing a plethora of wavey and unconventional sounds into the stratosphere thanks to her explorative ear for futuristic electronica, experimental, uk and bass driven sounds. 

Her unique trajectory has seen her support the likes of Machine woman, Lsdxoxo and Avalon Emerson with bookings as far flung as Pikes, Ibiza and East London’s Pickle Factory. With guest appearances on NTS Radio, Balamii Radio, Rinse FM, Red Light Radio and in recent times her Boiler Room debut.

Never one to follow the rules and true to her craft, her track selections are a kind of organised chaos showcasing her strong knowledge of both inside and outside of dance music. Her latest mix is as impressive as her cv. 🥀

Goes well with a variety of teas, meditation, pet cats, Ad Blocker, tonal wears, plus any music software you desire.

I often pop my samples through a number of warmers and add a nice mastering chain. Smackos does the bizz but there are tons more, make sure a -0.01db or 0.00db ceiling limiter is applied to keep from getting that nasty Ableton master raw. That raw is too raw. Like WAY too much.
