electrocaïne kicks off its podcast first release of 2022, sessïons, with Nikitch & Mart One, showcasing a multi-genre mix inspired by their latest collaborative effort, Jowa. The dynamic duo have joined forces once again, after 8 years since their last release ushering in a wave of new music. Combining their experiences over their years spent apart, and their particular skills, the new EP samples an array of eclectic sounds encompassing African influences, hip-hop and jazz which is being released on Cascade Records.

Longtime friends, Nikitch and Mart One have amassed a certain level of knowledge and tools over the years, bringing the best out of each other's expertise. Nikitch’s musical character is guided by his background in classical music, fused with contemporary electronic synths. He is an enthusiastic collaborator with the likes of Gilles Peterson and Laurent Garnier in his repertoire,  just to name a few. Meanwhile, ex Scratch Bandit Crew member Mart One brings a distinct perspective to his music with his wax deejaying skills and passion for turntables.

Buck Masters, J. S. Buck aka Kevin of Brainstory and Buckleberry Fin aka Brian Jamal Edwards present: 4 Seasons, a sonic interpretation of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. 4 Seasons glides through aural  moods with the weather patterns dictating where to go. From The boisterous and flamboyant colors of spring, to the hot grooves of a beloved summer, onto the soothing and sometimes heartbreaking chills of Fall and Winter, listeners encounter stories and memories captured on wax that have touched both selectors and hopefully the listener as well. Kevin and Brian are long time musical collaborators, both out of Rialto, Ca. As a young buck, Kevin learned the art of songwriting through observing Brian write and record his original tunes on a 8 track tape recorder and both got their start as an acoustic duo called Ten Year Gap in around 2005.

BCR Radio Episode 025 - Kevin Martin & Brian Jamal Edwards - 4 Seasons

The start of something very special with Think!Chinatown's Chinatown Arts Week 2020. Co-hosted by YiuYiu, Think!Chinatown, and Grace Chang (in The Wild, Wild Rose) on 19 October 2020. 

Three years ago, while packing to move to NYC, I stumbled upon three boxes of vinyl records hidden in my family's home. Over the past few months, I've been working with folks in Manhattan Chinatown to dig up and digitize their family collections of records and tapes, while listening to the sweet memories that come with them. From Cantonese opera to Taiwanese pop, these melodies orchestrate the soundtrack to our memories of home and family. Now, these records and the stories they hold fill my own home in Chinatown. This mix pays homage not only to my own parents, but also to the families who have held onto these musical memories of home for decades. 

Special thanks to Dad, Vic, Amy, Betty, and a growing list of Manhattan Chinatown folks for trusting me to listen and sway to these melodies with as much love as you all did with your families.

This project has been a community effort, so thank you for being a part of it.
