When the COVID-19 lockdown cost him his job, South Florida rapper Blvck Svm decided to release a series of biweekly singles as a last-ditch effort to jumpstart his music career. The first single of that series, “bleach,” released March 2020, caught fire a few months after its release, completely changing his trajectory. 3 years and 70 million total streams later, Svm is now a full-time rapper constantly sharpening his reserved, cerebral style that’s been described as aesthetic rap, lowercase rap, and Michelin star rap. In pursuit of lyrical immortality, Svm spends a not insignificant portion of his earnings on high-end foods so that he can rap about them with increasingly immersive detail.
