Brazilian born producer/DJ Waltervelt returns to Maceo Plex’s Ellum label with a pair of slick and sophisticated tracks on the ‘Modern Slip’ single release.

Last popping up on 2023’s Ellum Sampler V3 EP, Waltervelt has since fired out singles for labels such as Dynamic, Octopus Recordings and Stripped Recordings.  Over a production career that kicked off in 2016, Waltervelt has forged a unique sound characterized by atmospheric textures, pulsating basslines, and intricate rhythms that reflect his passion for exploring the emotional and sensory depths of electronic music.

Two breezy, electro-tinged cuts are served up on this release for Ellum, with ‘Modern Slip’ and ‘Destination 19’ both radiating pure class from this highly talented producer.

Waltervelt - Destination 19

Alejandro Mosso returns with mosso012, a two-track EP that dives deeper into his minimalist foundations, placing rhythm and percussive detail at the forefront. Rich in texture and complexity, this release emphasizes physicality over melody, exploring intricate drum programming and dynamic tension with a raw, focused energy.

Pentose opens with a swinging, tightly coiled groove — a percussive roller that builds intensity through subtle shifts and restrained pressure. On the B-side, Tetrose brings a grittier, more tribal edge, driven by layered percussion and a primal pulse. Both tracks reflect Mosso’s continued dedication to sonic craft, offering a sharper, rhythm-driven take on his distinctive sound.

Pentose (Snippet)

Originally released in 2009, this standout remix package followed the release of Steve Bug’s fourth full artist album, Collaboratory, which dropped earlier that year to widespread acclaim. The album captured Steve’s dedication to forward-thinking house music, teaming up with a stellar cast of collaborators including Gigi, Donnacha Costello, and Simon Flower.
Collaboratory Remixes Vol.1 brought fresh interpretations from Ribn, Motor City Drum Ensemble, and Sven Tasnadi, and still holds up today.

Ribn (aka Manuel Tur and Langenberg) deliver a deep, dubby, Detroit-tinged take on “Like It Should Be” featuring Gigi. Their Translucent Vox Remix builds with patience, drawing you in with a long, atmospheric intro before locking into a driving, bass-led groove that honors Gigi’s sultry vocals.

Motor City Drum Ensemble brings the heat with a raw house twist on “Still Music,” the Bug and Costello collaboration. Loaded with late 80s and early 90s drum machine attitude and bubbling keys, it’s an acid-tinged workout that still burns.
Sven Tasnadi rounds things out with a tight, tracky remix of “Passing Clouds” (Bug and Simon Flower), fusing melancholic synth lines with solid drums and a modern tech-house edge.
