This time you get a very simple video (https://relaxdaily.net/video-n071/). I like the look of that early morning grass softly waving in the wind. It's not demanding, it's just there. ... just minutes after sunrise I stand in the still wet and cool grass a bit north of Pisa in Tuscany (Italy). The rising sun is already warming my skin. I focus the lens and hit the record button on my camera. Though I still feel tired from getting up early, there's this certainty that here comes another day to be enjoyed on this, our beautiful planet...

Mesmeric layers pulse and rotate, weaving an atmosphere of deep eyes-closed bliss throughout the mix, building to unparalleled peaks. First on the remix tip is Northern Irelands Cormac Murphy who dives into deeper territory, stripping things back to a pulsing bassline, lo-fi percussion and minimal melodic elements. Finally Austrias Oliver Prime ratchets things up a touch with a swing-driven teeth-baring burbling and filtering acidic mix. This is real progressive house.

Welcome to our second release this year. This time we are giving you a huge melodic pack of tracks all the way. Mbase who is one of our resident producers is contributing another stunning track to our label. Once again he is able to create something extraordinary which is driven by a beautiful and touching melody. 'Promise' is taking you away by it's own special atmosphere.

We feel absolutely honoured to present a true mastermind of the melodic Progressive House secene. Non other than Roald Velden is bringing us the first remix of 'Promise' and his style is shining through the whole remix. The result is a wonderful journey from beginning to end.

On the second remix we welcome another debut artist to our label. Well known producer Miroslav Vrlik from Slovakia is delivering a lovely interpretation. The guitar melody is giving you a great summer feeling and wants you to sit on a beautiful beach while enjoying life.

We are also happy to present you a great variation on the third remix brought to you by sensational producer ReDub. His experimental remix ends up in a beautiful laidback Nu Disco/Indie Dance influenced track which is totally made for the bright and warm days of the year. We hope it gives you a great feeling of harmony and warmth.

About You pt. 2" released Tuesday, May 5th, 2015, is the follow up compilation to About You that focused on budding underground producers based in the Toronto area. This time around Exhume Music focusses it's attention on producers from around the globe. After last month’s »Busted Moniker« EP from Quarion, Retreat is thrilled to announce a new 12" courtesy of house music’s most energetic duo, the incomparable Session Victim! The aptly titled »Two Man House Band EP« is the lads’ first record since their 2014 magnum Opus »See You When You Get There« and perfectly transcribes the energy that Session Victim pour into their incendiary live show. Tailormade for a night out in the club or a joyous day at the festival, the »Two Man House Band EP« once again prooves that Session Victim are unstoppable in their pursuit of the ultimate groove!

»Summer Games« is an ode to that most festive of seasons and could easily hold the claim of being Retreat’s »biggest« track so far. Built around an Hypnotic organ loop, »SummerGames« completely blurs the lines between house, funk and soul : rolling breakbeats, catchy vocal snippets and a very groovy bassline are the core elements of this anthem that could rock any party. Yet Session Victim add a slight twist in the form of a melancholic string motive that appears in two chiseled breakdowns. It’s a little reminder that summers do not last forever and that one should enjoy them while they last ...

Flip the record in order to dive into the deeper realms of »Black Cream«, a more reflective track for the late hours. With its jazzy (almost broken) beat, guitar licks, rhodes pads, subtle percussion and ethereal vocals, »Black Cream« is the soundtrack to an exciting underwater trip with Matthias and Hauke at the controls. Thanks to the captains’ lively drum programming, the track flows effortlessly and we’re treated with many surprises along the way before a gradual rise brings us back to the surface.

»Finderlohn« is a smokey downtempo workout which finds Session Victim digging deep in their collection to demonstrate their prowess in manipulating samples. Beginning with an instanly classic guitar and piano loop, »Finderlohn« allows a shuffly breakbeat to take center stage, sometimes reinforced with double-time hihats for a more dramatic effect. The tune is definitely a headnodder’s paradise and the listener is taken that little bit higher thanks to a mystical flute solo that concludes »Finderlohn« in a psychedelic way.

About the video (https://relaxdaily.net/video-n070/ ): I captured the video footage in early May 2013 around Criel-sur-Mer, Normandy, France. Weather-wise that day was pretty mixed, starting a bit cloudy but ending quite sunny, but you see that in the vid yourself. Ever wondered where the phrase "free as a bird" comes from? You might get the idea when you watch out for the seagulls' playful maneuvers in flight. At some point I felt like I wanted to fly with them (probably not a healthy idea to execute when you stand on a cliff, some 80 meters above the shore... did someone already develop a working flying suit?)
Anyway, I enjoyed my short trip to the Normandy very much and created the music track back home a few weeks later. Hope you enjoy,
