This fall, we shift gears, moving the gathering to the lush forest of Pine Valley.

Our new compilation showcases familiar friends, fresh faces, and exciting new aliases/projects from our founders and residents. San Diego and the West Coast are brimming with untapped talent, and we can’t wait to unveil the gems hidden in producers’ laptops. This album honors the past while setting our sights firmly on the future.

CWPT004: Voodoos & Taboos - Tropical Love

CWPT are pleased to deliver four tracks of intoxicating after-hours dance music from Italian duo, Voodoos & Taboos (@voodoosandtaboos). Self-releasing a number of vinyl-only releases before debuting in 2021 on Phonica AM, a new sub label of the legendary London record store, ‘Tropical Love’ refines the V&T sound further still into physicality and sensuality alike.

DJs with a taste for sunrise and beyond are truly spoiled for choice by Voodoos & Taboos, with each track bottling a different level of rave energy. ‘XTC’ is built around perhaps their most outlandish riff to date, alongside heavy-duty drums and cut-and-paste vocal samples reverent to an early, optimistic era of machine party music. Its A-side sister and title track, ‘Tropical Love’ is wide-eyed and warm, spring-loaded with true tech-house chords and frequent plunges into fresh pools of bass.

On the flip, ‘Warped’ strips the elements back further still, rolling with confidence on acid-flecked modulations and primitive piano, building towards a smooth launch into innerspace. Finally, ‘LSDREAMS’ delivers a lucid and deeply psychedelic send-off, as V&T lower the tempo to showcase the more organic side of their nocturnal inclinations.

Another fine addition to the steadily expanding back catalogue of Palms Trax’s label, ‘Tropical Love’ is a refreshing turn for those with no intention of calling it a night; heads music with real heart.

"I am a total 80’s kid, and I remember when the song came out, and I heard it on the radio. My uncle grabbed me and spun me around to the sound, and from then on, this song stuck with me until now. Whenever I hear the original track, I sing along and spin myself around for the fun of it. I love the happy vibe to it and the very positive driving power of it. With the re-edit, I wanted to keep the original vibe and the key elements to make it still very clearly recognizable over the time of the track, revealing the main vocals rather late, teasing the listener and sending him on a mind journey.” The track was produced with the support of Julian Laping aka https://soundcloud.com/toneaffair

While spinning right round, https://soundcloud.com/st-ahler aims to spread joy by creating lofty and floating disco & indie dance sounds. Moving from Singapore to Berlin in 2014, Stahler discovered the decks in an escalated night of synth spaceships and black matter gravity forces. Shortly after, he began playing DJ sets at intimate events & house parties before he started to make hoofers hover at bigger parties and events, ranging from art exhibitions to clubs and festival stages. His melodic indie dance sets are appreciated for their danceable yet wobbly and deep sounds infused with tasteful influences from the lively 80s, banging Italo Disco and solid dark disco tunes, covering wide electronic frequency terrains.
