East-London's Riva Starr joins Defected's illustrious list of House Masters as he continues to establish himself as one of the world's top DJs and producers. Growing up surrounded by the rich musical culture of Southern Italy, Starr's influences come from all over; the sounds of Africa, Greece, Spain and the Balkans are ever-present within his revered house releases. Genre-wise his approach is similarly expansive, first falling for breakbeat after years of experimentation in Naples, before exploding onto the UK fidget and deep house scene in the noughties. October saw the re-release of PQM’s “You Are Sleeping” with a huge remix from Matador. What we didn’t tell you is that Matador actually made two, and the second is just as powerful as the first! Having become a staple in Matador’s recent sets, his Live mix propels its way through multiple driving basslines, dark atmospheres and of course, the classic’s haunting vocal. 

Then, discovered from the depths of the Yoshi catalogue, is Miss Nine's remix, a gem produced a few years back that was ahead of its time. The mix fits nicely with whats going on today on the more melodic side of Tech House with a rolling bassline and Miss Nine’s distinct style. 

On the first bundle, we remastered and rereleased Luke Chable’s iconic remix - now we give you the original Deephead Pass. Softer fare than Chable's, this deep classic has an eerie, tribal quality that has cemented itself in the annals of dance music history.
