Locked-In Podcast 5.1 [Hashii]

Searching for the sound of a river flowing under the ice, the cracking of the ice cap, capturing the rhythm of the tides under starry nights. This is what inspired the composition of the EP.
L'énigme du timbre is a journey through the great Quebec winter, immersing us in the journey of the water under the ice. From river to lake to river, this stroll lets us experience the different stages and modes of propagation of the vital liquid, passing through the infinitely small, until we discover it in the immensity of a united and total mass.
The use of microphonic and hydroponic sound recordings mixed with modular and granular synthesis served as a compositional basis for working around timbre, polyrhythm and natural forms retranscribed in different envelopes, reproducing complex and unique sounds. A hybridization of natural sound and synthesized sound While remaining in the spirit of Techno, Youg's second EP features his own constantly evolving research into texture.

Des sons aux couleurs percussives, des rythmes à la fois énergiques et chargés de sensibilité, c'est ce que propose l'univers de YOUG. Les résonances humaines et sonores qu’il porte et qui lui sont chères se font ressentir lors de chaque prestation en souvenir de ces instants truculents.

Lauréat de la bourse Euterke 2021 ainsi que du concours de performances en musique acousmatique organisé par le Cercle de Composition de l'Université de Montréal, et actuellement étudiant en musique numérique à l'Université de Montréal, il aborde la musique et la composition sonore, ainsi que ses performances LIVE comme un grand laboratoire de recherche et d'évasion dans lequel la Techno et la musique psychédélique éveillent les sens cachés des fréquences sonores.

Sa curiosité et son goût pour la découverte de nouvelles ambiances accordées à la spatialisation sonore, la musique électronique et la musique acousmatique, lui ont permis d’étendre son expérience sur de nombreuses scènes en Europe et au Québec.
Sa pratique artistique et sa passion pour l’aventure hors des sentiers battus, le poussent à puiser ses sons au cœur même de la nature. À l’aide de son enregistreur et de ses micros, il se met en quête d’imperceptibles paysages orchestrés.
Il a aussi co-fondé et mis en place la plate-forme Insideout en mars 2020. Durant la pandémie, il était primordial pour lui de poursuivre ses recherches dans cette idée d’échanges et de laboratoires où des artistes de partout sur la planète pourraient, comme lui, rester connectés et partager cette passion qu’est la création musicale.
