Cleaning Up

After the birth of his son, Mike Stocksdale took a necessary break from songwriting. When he finally found his way back to the craft, a build up of thoughts, loves, fears, and stories poured forth into his sixth solo album, Until The Oceans Rise. The decidedly sparse production pushes lyrics to the forefront, where they shine as never before. The songs are challenging, contemplative, playful, timely, and somehow Stocksdale manages to be lyrically complex while his ideas remain accessible. Sonically, Until The Oceans Rise lands somewhere between The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan and Blonde On Blonde, but Stocksdale is no copycat. Tracked live to tape, this is his first album that showcases organic performances of songs, and in doing so he has truly found a unique voice. The old school vibe has a modern edge that keeps the listener coming back time and again to discover new details tucked away in this timeless masterpiece.
