Lorca kick starts 2014 with Forgive Me Love / Naoko, his debut release on Breach’s (aka Ben Westbeech)Naked Naked imprint, joining the ranks of Dusky, Dark Sky, Midland, Mak & Pasteman and Westbeech himself.

The two-­track EP follows up Lorca’s highly acclaimed 2013 If I Told You EP on 2020 Midnight Visions, and his stellar remix of Ghostpoet’s Cold Win which received widespread support, with Midland tipping it as quite possibly the remix of the year.

With highly lauded releases on Dummy, Throwing Snow’s Left_blank imprint and Church, Lorca has made a strong impression in the two short years he’s been producing. His superb Can’t See Higher / Missed Me EP in 2012 on Dummy was the turning point, transforming him from a promising young talent into an exceptional one, gaining support from the likes of Bonobo, Rob Da Bank, Deetron and Scuba...

This latest release meets building expectations, both tracks incredibly smooth, nostalgia-­inducing and heavily textured, solidifying Lorca’s unique sound.

After Flori’s excellent ‘Within Reason’ EP secretsundaze release their second EP of the year with Galway based John Daly and ‘Everlasting’. John has been plying his trade for many years now releasing numerous quality tracks across labels such as Mule Music, International Feel, TAANSTAFL,and of course secretsundaze with ‘One More City’ last year. ‘Everlasting’ finds John in exceptional form. An epic 9 minute workout starts with fizzing hats and some magic keys before developing into a fluid, free flowing deep house/techno hybrid of the highest order. This is no peak time banger but a track for special moments. Coming at you a little bit like a jam between Larry Heard and Mathew Johnson we hope you like this as much as we do.

On the remix we have drafted in one of techno’s brightest hopes Marcelus form France. Best known for his work on Deeply Rooted, Tresor and his own Singular imprint he takes ‘Everlasting’ into wonderfully deep, bubbling and aquatic techno territory. Don’t be fooled though as Marcelus can’t quite hide his tougher techno roots as the kick drum suddenly doubles up giving the track a raw potency when you least expect it.

Another secretsundaze gem with John Daly and Marcelus proving to be a deadly pairing for those that like their techno music a little more cerebral.

Secrets & Lies

London-based artist ABSOLUTE. debuts his single ‘Fairground’ via his own A. Player imprint. Out now.

The track was born out of sessions at London’s iconic Fortress Studios, also home to Jamie xx, Paranoid London and Bicep. It was mastered by veteran engineer Matt Colton (James Blake, Panda Bear, Caribou) and is already picking early support with tastemakers from DJ EZ to Horsemeat Disco.

With ‘Fairground’, ABSOLUTE. (always all caps, with a full stop) has crafted a bold, electrifying debut that envelops the listener in its cavernous atmospherics, with celestial synths and chopped, distant vocals heralding echoing horns and tribal percussion. It’s the sound of someone carving their own path, and marks ABSOLUTE. out as one of the UK’s most intriguing new producers. 

Elusive London DJ and producer KDA demanded to remix ‘Fairground’ on first listen, stepping up to deliver a pneumatic dub version that loses none of the original’s dark ambiance. The remix will be released in March 2016 and follows KDA’s own debut single ‘Rumble’ last year, which ultimately topped the UK singles chart with a reworked version featuring Katy B and Tinie Tempah. 

Having already appeared on line-ups alongside the likes of Claude VonStroke, Green Velvet, Derrick Carter, Julio Bashmore, Cyril Hahn, Gesaffelstein, 2 Bears, Greg Wilson, Justin Martin, Flashmob to name just a few, ABSOLUTE. is set to unveil a highly anticipated live show this Summer. Stay tuned.
