Northern monkey, ageing B-Boy, avid soul & funk collector/ DJ and one half of the hugely popular Smoove & Turrell, the one and only Smoove has taken time out of his busy schedule to drop an absolute gem for us on Digga Please? 
Giving new life to a forgotten classic is the order of the day for the A side, beefing up the drums and arrangement on this northern anthem (and unlikely No1 when covered in the late 80s). Over on the B side, he gets busy with the scalpel for a truly mindblowing cut and past of everybody's favourite Daisy Agers, Plugs 1, 2 and 3...this is only Lesson 1 so make sure you're paying attention!

Sauce81 is a Japanese producer making electronic funk / soul music that lies somewhere between hip hop, deep house / beat down to broken beats. He was invited to Red Bull Music Academy in 2008 Barcelona, and has DJed at some of Japan's finest electronic music festivals such as Metamorphose and Sonar Sound Tokyo. 
Started "cosmopolyphonic radio" podcast with fellow beat-scientist RLP and few others in 2009, it soon built a worldwide following in the underground beat scene. In 2010, he released a compilation album "COSMOPOLYPHONIC", which featured many local artists from Daisuke Tanabe, Kan Sano and MONKEY_sequence.19 to international talent, Kay Suzuki, Onra, Pursuit Grooves, Devonwho and TOKiMONSTA. Supporting up and coming producers through the podcast series, his "COSMOPOLYPHONIC" nights have brought over Onra, Africa Hitech and so many more to Japan. 
He is also known for his quality remixes, especially 'Who Are You feat. Ladi6 & Parks' (sauce81 remix) which has been one of the best remixes in 2012. 
Finally his debut EP "Fade Away" is coming out on Wonderful Noise Productions (Osaka / Japan) later this year. Also his long waited first album will be dropping in early 2013 on disque corde(Tokyo / Japan).

If Daft Punk had written their song "Teachers" today, they would most definitely have had to include Herbie Hancock on the list... at least the late 70's version of Herbie that produced the cut edited here. Those crisp disco drums, rubbery bass line and, most noticeably, those talk box vocals, are featured all over their new album! But Herbie was doing it 35 years ago. Here's to the originators!
