"Philadelphia Maneto," the city of Philadelphia's motto, translates as "Let Brotherly Love Endure." In this spirit of togetherness, Young Robots label chief DJ Apt One curates a compilation of the Philadelphia and New Jersey area's eclectic and talented underground electronic and dance acts. From established acts Pink Skull and Todd Edwards (Daft Punk collaborator and half of Lux & Edwards) to local favorite DJs Billy W and Shawn Ryan (half of Superprince) to indie dance bands Nicos Gun and The Downtown Club, this record shows the depth and diversity of the scene. DJ Apt One remixes three live acts on the compilation, with an assist on the saxophone from his frequent collaborator, Fools Gold's Sammy Bananas. Instamatic, SAUR (My Techno Ways A Ton), aupl and mysterious house guru NITEWAX round out the record.

The tracks by Nicos Gun, The Downtown Club and Instamatic and their respective remixes by DJ Apt One will appear on a limited run vinyl release available in the Philadelphia area this summer and digitally via turntablelab.com.

Philadelphia's premier listener-supported radio station, WXPN FM, will co-sponsor the digital release, which will be available for free as well as through all Young Robots' usual digital sales outlets.

The release of the compilation will coincide with a July 18th concert on Philadelphia's Race Street Pier and a subsequent afterparty, featuring acts from Philadelphia Maneto.

NITEWAX - Infinite Wax

Young Robots is a record label run by Skinny Friedman, DJ Apt One, DJ Ayres and Relative Q.  We put out dance music and also some other stuff.

I'm a lifelong musician-turned-producer/composer in Portland, OR.  Since my beginnings in classical piano at an early age, I've never stopped exploring and absorbing countless styles and influences of current and past musicians and producers. As you can see from my sampling of tracks posted here, I'm a restless soul, stylistically - I get bored easily and can't stand still for too long.  My focus the past few years has been on music for film and television, licensing tracks from my growing eclectic catalog of  minimalist and avant-garde classical landscapes, ambient and glitchy textural pieces,  Brazilian-Cuban soul jazz, afrobeat and even banging club floor fillers.  Clients have included ABC, HBO, CBS, Cartoon Network, Travel Channel, National Geographic, Nike, Quiksilver, Marriott and Warner Bros.
