Los Angeles native Dru Nizar is a rising star on the West Coast. Born and raised in the heart of the city, he drew inspiration from hip-hop legends Pac, Nas, Kurupt, and Jay. While most of his childhood friends spent time in court, Dru spent time on the court gaining recognition on many of the basketball scenes throughout the city. It was not until his younger brother, Insurgency Music, began producing beats that Dru started focusing on his lyrical and songwriting abilities. Determined to overcome the challenges many inner-city Angelinos face, Dru began to use music as an artistic outlet to help him survive the Los Angeles fast-life. It was not until his acceptance into college that he found that people were inspired by his music. Combining great lyrics, an arsenal of flows and an amazing story telling ability, Dru’s music transcends time periods and genres. Catchy hooks and originality makes Dru a threat both lyrically and in the club. Linking up with West Coast legend Glasses Malone and music producer Tommy Gunz has brought out the best in Dru Nizar and his music. Releasing his debut project Black September with features from Glasses Malone, Garrett Douglas, Brooke Taylor, PI, Naynast, Lo Diggs, Fre$co, and B. Steady and production from Tommy Gunz, Grizzleepro, Insurgency Music, and Sacramento’s Goldfingaz, Dru has positioned himself as a presence in the game that is here to stay.
