Formed in November 2016, YOUPEOPL is the product of collaborations between local musicians Brandon Mason and Chan Maurice Evans. Having discovered a coincidental, mutual former band, the two connected via social media, met briefly at a local venue and decided that the current culture in American society (Black American history, to be specific) was prime for a new creative outlet and began working on what would become their debut E.P., entitled “…are we.”

 YOUPEOPL’s sound is a blend of many influences; from soul, R&B, rock and heavy metal to post-punk noise-rock and beyond. They have cultivated and continue to nurture a brand of progressive introspection, outside thinking and self-awareness within their songs. YOUPEOPL is the sound of pride in diversity, the timbre of change and the echo of minority cultural struggle.
