A page from yesterday's Quarantine Sketchbook, thinking about creativity and process, the balance between completion and perfection. This song is a gesture drawing, part of my focus to finish music and release it instead of keeping it in storage forever.

In my archives, as in many other musicians' and artists', there are hundreds of songs left unfinished or unshared because they never got a point I considered "good enough." This is why I've titled a project where I'll be releasing things now and then NvrEnuff, because to me, at this point it doesn't matter whether or not the songs, or the vocal, or the production is "good enough." 

Stay quarantined. Stay safe. But don't hide yourself away.

When I Fall

Formed in November 2016, YOUPEOPL is the product of collaborations between local musicians Brandon Mason and Chan Maurice Evans. Having discovered a coincidental, mutual former band, the two connected via social media, met briefly at a local venue and decided that the current culture in American society (Black American history, to be specific) was prime for a new creative outlet and began working on what would become their debut E.P., entitled “…are we.”

 YOUPEOPL’s sound is a blend of many influences; from soul, R&B, rock and heavy metal to post-punk noise-rock and beyond. They have cultivated and continue to nurture a brand of progressive introspection, outside thinking and self-awareness within their songs. YOUPEOPL is the sound of pride in diversity, the timbre of change and the echo of minority cultural struggle.
