Steve Ferrand - Spring Time On Mars

It’s been about 6 months since the last YOUR ONLY FRIEND release, but we’re back in full force with an exciting new release from one of our label heroes, LAST MOOD.

We start this EP off with the title track “Who Said I Would”. A bassline infused journey into the deep. The groove here is driven by the Detroit styled keys that weave in and out of the solidly arranged beats.

“Another” follows up with a deeper yet chunkier track , Slightly reminiscent of Carl Craig’s, Falling up with more jack. Small vocal snippets keep this badboy strictly HOUSE.

Newcomer to the Your Only Friend, Tiedmann, delivers us a solid Deep House remix of “North”. Tracky and smooth with a soft touch of techy undertones, this track is pure class.

Another new addition to the Your Only Friend family is D-Riberio with his powerful yet moody and beautifully arranged remix of “Intersecton". This deep and techy track builds and builds to some serious dancefloor business.

YOUR ONLY FRIEND is back after a two year break of debauchery and nonsense with a new release from Berlin based, American artist, Lady Blacktronika

We start this EP off with the title track “Fleeting Moments of Ex”.  An edgy and driving track with a thumping bass and a chicagoesque bounce to the stabs that later overlay it. Classic Lady Blacktronika Vocals keep the track hypnotic and moody.
 
“Waiting For You” is a deeper yet tough bassline infused track that keeps in in line with Lady Blacktronika’s past work. Moody, and meaningful with a groove that is sure to keep the floor dancing with their eyes closed. 
 
“Blood Loss” loopy track that dives in and out of the trippy vocals and screams that overlay it. Mechanical beats keep the track moving. 

“Gimme A Break” holds true to the First Lady of Beatdown’s moody Detroit sound. A piercing high hat clocks over the tracky vocal and heavy sub bass. This is truly a beautifully put together track full of emotion and feeling.

Here's an old mixtape I did in 1997.  Vinyl of course... Recorded live at one of the legendary "Red Underground" deep house parties in Colorado.

Ever since her first release on Your Only Friend, reviewers and DJs have been calling her the next Moodymann or the next Theo Parrish.  We disagree. She’s not the next anything… but rather the First Lady of Beatdown.
Once again Lady Blacktronika takes us on a journey into the recesses of her soul. Beginning with Cosmic Dance; A Sci-Fi infused Beatdown tracker that seems like it was made in an alter-Detroit from a parallel universe. The powerful intro leads us down the rabbit hole as Lady B’s soulful vocals cut through an eerie melody that’s been carefully placed over Motercity beats. Insanity.
The following track, Your Friend, was made especially for our label. Emotive and Deep, with a sweet melody that winds you in and out of clunky beats that seem to almost trip over themselves. 
Stop Lovin’ is a haunting deep groover that gets you swinging with more of Lady B’s soulful vocals and it’s underlying Motown vocal licks. 
Wrapping up this EP with a splendid remix, is the newest addition to the Your Only Friend family. If Some Rain (Last Mood Remix) is deep house tracker that does the original justice with it’s hypnotic vocal overlaying tight drums and a jackin’ bassline. Definitely keep an ear open for this newcomer as we plan on featuring him a lot in the EPs to come.

Something Else! presents TRES MANOS live at Radio C/C Club

We are very pleased to present the first release on our label from Aiby & The Noise, two artists that have already been a part of the Your Only Friend family since we first began. 

We start this one off with For The Phuture (Original), a moody and meaningful track containing Detroit sounds and a vocal lick that calls out a personal moment of self-realization and responds with a confident call to arms. 

We follow it up with the For The Phuture (Last Mood’s Watch Me Remix). As always the beast we call “Last Mood” delivers us a Chicago bassline infused jam that is sure to please all the underground heads out there. 

Endless Nights (Original) is a powerful Detroit styled Techo track in tune with the spirit of legendary artists such as Trevor Rockcliffe or Blake Baxter. The spoken word vocals are a perfect sign of the times where we close 2012 and step into an unknown future. 

We offer up the Endless Nights (Instrumental) for the troops who prefer a straight up dancefloor banger.

As always we are very excited to kick this New Year off with another “wtf is this” style House release by the incredibly talented Lady Blacktronika!!! 

We start this one off with the title track Bring It Forth (Original). A bangin’ Chicago styled House track with a bellowing vocal and a solid groove. What more do you want?

We kick down the tempo for the next track, Change (Original). In true Detroit Beatdown style, Change is a slow yet powerful track that breaks into some solid soulful vocal over a driving rhythm and Detroitian synths. 

Song Of Love Overdue (Original) is another powerful yet moody and beautifully arranged song that takes you on a sixteen-minute journey into the very depths of Deepness. 

For the troops who prefer some Bass driven weirdness, we round up this EP with Children Of The Ghetto (Original). Sax over some heavy bass and some surprising undergrooves lead into a soulful vocal lick that breaks up the ghettoness of the bassline and keeps this one nice and deep.

We are very excited to introduce Romeo C & Alhan G as the newest additions to the YOUR ONLY FRIEND family. We start this EP off with the title track A Cold Touch. ’ A proper, smooth, Deeeeeeeep House Groover. This first track sets the scene with great spoken snippets and a touch of swinging Jazz horns that gently pierces through an elegant synth and bassline groove. Hold on to your ladies because this track is proper slick! We kicked this one down further into the underground to brew up a remix from the very depths of our own First Lady Of Beatdown, the mezmorizing Lady Blackronika for the A Cold Touch (Lady B Luv4U Remix). What came back up was a Trackin', and Jackin' Underground House goodie!!! Mexico (Original) is another powerful yet moody and beautifully arranged track with tight stabs, vocal bits and urban sounds that bust out some serious moves on the dancefloor. Solid bassline on this bad boy too. Hope you all enjoy this EP and thanks so much for the support.

Connecting the dots between the US’s and the UK’s early house and techno scenes and the more contemporary sounds of today’s dance floors, Your Only Friend is a DJ and Production Duo formed by longtime friends and collaborators Tres Manos and Steve Ferrand. Based in the thriving party Mecca of Barcelona, they are at the forefront of a new wave of artists blurring lines between genres and bringing diverse crowds together.

Both DJ’s have long histories as individual artists; Steve was a fixture on the UK’s free party and festival scene and Tres was a pioneer in the US’s club and warehouse scene. They would both eventually relocate to sunny Barcelona, where they met and began collaborating in 2005. Bonding over a mutual love of the underground music scene, they became among the most respected DJs and producers in the city.

As individual artists, both went on to put out releases on prominent labels Urban Torque, Dessous, Pack Up And Dance, Detour, Om Records, Justified Cause, and many more. As they became more and more well known in their scene, they teamed up to form the group Your Only Friend and the label of the same name to share their love of underground house and techno and help expose their favourite up and coming artists to a wider audience. The label featured releases and remixes from artists Joshua IZ, James Flavour, Rick Wade, Lady Blacktronika, Last Mood, and many more. Support from DJs and producers like Laurent Garnier, Tony Humphries, Funk D’Void, Andy Cato (Groove Armada) and Luke Soloman helped them establish an international presence.

In the ten years since their founding, Your Only Friend has gone on to became an institution. Both members have had successful solo projects, with Steve’s project ‘The Groovers’ scoring a hit on Brooklyn’s notorious Razor’N’Tape label with “Where You Belong,” as well as appearances on labels like Silver Network, Deep&Disco and Editorial, and Tres maintaining residencies at Zoo Project in Ibiza and Davide Squillace’s This And That Parties as well as collaborations with some of the musicians who inspired him in the first place, including remixes for Chicago legends Derrick Carter and Johnny Fiasco.

As they celebrate their ten year anniversary, look out for fresh music and lots more performances from the duo as they look forward to another decade of making people dance!
