Ive been speding the last few weeks reading all my musik mags fron to back and also using the music singles section to download all the tracks that were reviewed over the years ive downloaded all the tunes from 96-2000 so far im still reading and downloading as we speak ha. I was dying to get my handos on the mix you made that was the winner but wasnt sure how to get it and just did a wee google searchf bedroom bedlam and up this popped its made my sunday!! I just wanna say i totally respect what you have done over the nears never once did you change the sound that you loved so well you cans till hear the sound you played back then still evident in the music you play today. Proper orginal. Your own sound. Well done Yousef your now a household name and superstar dj in your own right. Youve made it bro! It feels like ive been back in time and watched your career bloom just by reading a few mags every day lol. Thanks again for the upload the mix is amazing playing it right now

My winning mix from Muzik Magazines bedroom bedlam dj competition.
the mix was recorded in october 1997 on 2 technics 1210's and numark mixer. The sound quality is not up to todays standards but its still ok. if you dont know, Muzik Magazine had a monthly dj comp where each winner got a gig at a major club (james zabiela also won one month)

as it was recorded on cassette tape there is a short break in the middle of the mix (where the tape flips over). The mix was recorded Live in one take and comes with the occasional mistake, its raw and has loads of energy and a selection of great tracks.
sadly soundcloud couldnt cope with a 90min WAV. so its a 320 mp3

for me its one of my favorite mixes ive ever done.
the article in the picture says its from feb 1997 but its feb 1998.

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning.
