Fresh off the back of a string of high-profile releases on labels like Nuusic and RAM Recordings’ ProgRAM imprint, international drum and bass trio Sola make their Druid Recordings debut with the defiant two-tracker “All About You” / “Nightmare”. Comprising of Manchester beatmakers Nothing To Lose and Echidna – locally renowned as the co-founders of Grand Theft Audio – and Brisbane producer Hanm, the emerging production trio have already proven themselves to be spectacularly versatile, turning their hand to everything from jungle to liquid. Fittingly, this new release showcases two more styles of D&B they’ve perfected: pared-back steppers and hectic neurofunk.

In equal parts sparse and intense, “All About You” sets thunderous, gravelly basslines against a bed of twinkling synths, echoing impacts and delicate, percussive clicks to produce one of the team’s most forward-thinking collaborative efforts to date, its delay-soaked vocal refrain making it all the more memorable. The ensuing weapon, “Nightmare”, is the polar opposite of its sprawling precursor: greeting the listener with theatrical strikes and cinematic melodies, the epic track soon reaches a clanking crescendo, its frenetic drum patterns adding to the song’s urgency. The song’s roaring synths take on a metallic quality, the hard-hitting wall of sound expertly juxtaposing the song’s more atmospheric passages in true neuro fashion. 

“All About You” / “Nightmare” drops exclusively via Beatport on 27 October, landing on streaming services and other digital stores on 10 November.

Making his debut appearance on Korea’s Confucian Sound, Dutch drum and bass stalwart Intervore returns with the forward-thinking two- tracker, “Sulphur” / “F7200”.

Since emerging on the scene in 2018, the relative newcomer has gained increasing renown as a fine craftsman of atmospheric soundscapes, releasing the winding, arpeggiated roller “Frameshift” and the burgeoning banger “Singularity” via Conflate Audio last year as his first full release. Picking up where these songs left off, the young talent offers up two slices of ambient techstep on his new release.

An amalgamation of tranquil drones, luscious pads and lo-fi percussion kicks off “Sulphur”, which goes on to deftly weave in and out of gravelly, mechanical drops. Accented by formant growls and choppy snares, the track showcases the rising producer’s ability to juggle dynamic range with masterful precision, perfectly fitting in with the Confucian Sound roster.

Commencing with a tense, immersive arrangement of reverberating bells, menacing buzzing and frenzied cymbals, “F7200” erupts into clanking crescendos marked by barbed basslines and supercharged drums, making for an altogether more riotous affair than its predecessor. Showcasing a darker and heavier side to Intervore’s production ability, the track serves as a promising indicator of what’s to come from the emergent Dutchman, once again proving Confucian Sound’s impressive radar for scouting the next generation of drum and bass talent.

With a return to their neurofunk roots, Essex based Druid Records returns with their 30th release and it is a special one. “Scout 22” heads up the EP with his original track “Cybernetic Synthetic”. A raw, dancefloor influenced track with relentless kicks and a pummelling wonky bassline with elements of sci-fi which is a key passion of the Artist that has featured on Program and Citrus Recordings.

On remix duties, they brought in Brazilian powerhouse producer “Dunk” formally part of the Jam Thieves. Fresh off his latest release on the mighty Dispatch LTD, Dunk truly showcases his sound that has caught the attention of many top labels in the scene and provided the artist with consistent releases all year long. The deep rolling track is a great take on the original and a perfect fit into Druids ever growing back catalogue.

Rounding off the EP, Druid have enlisted the neurofunk maestro “Barbarix”. The UK based producer has had releases on labels such as Renegade Hardware, C4C, Methlab and many more true innovative labels.
Bringing the funk back into Neurofunk, Barbarix drops a full throttle remix of the original letting the scene know he’s back in business and isn’t going anywhere. A heavy metallic snare punches through a groovy but gritty bassline and switching it into a bassline designed to cause absolute carnage.

With one more release left for the year, with a top vocalist, that is a bit different to the usual from the Essex imprint, this release is set to show Druid is back and setting their place back firmly within the scene we all love.

From the beginning it was important to Brazed to create their own sound. You can hear this clearly in the various productions. The mixture of old school elements, triplet beatz/fills, half-time parts and heavy basslines in connection with a modern neurotic sound is what makes Brazed so special.

The first track "Signal" is a triplet skanker with a lot of oldschool vibe and a heavy bassline highlighted with striking cowbells. "Future"  follows with a more modern / futuristic sound. The distorted vocal bass is very relevant and leads through the track with the vocalsynth.

Both tracks show the spectrum of Brazed, from oldschool vibe to neurofunk.

Welcome to a journey into D&B’s deepest, darkest, dirtiest underbelly…
Your drivers on this mission are veteran producers Gridlok and Prolix. With pristine reputations and spotless discographies that span back to the turn of the century, the respective US/UK artists need little introduction… Both as solo artists or as a collaborative duo.
Their trip commences with ‘Membrane’, a turbo-charged rocket ride into drum & bass’s most alien landscapes. Hold on tight as we negotiate the tight, gnarly bends where an itchy scratchy lead scuffs the spectrum with infectious, growling glee.
