Cold Wind Blowing

16 excellent pieces of music echoing from a vacant concert hall.

The Tokyo-based pianist and member of the cinematic instrumental music band, Anoice, and its side projects, RiLF, Films, Mizu Amane, and Cru, Yuki Murata, will release her 2nd concert album 'Piano Quartet Concert' on December 2nd, 2022.

This album was recorded in an concert hall where Yuki Murata played, not only on her piano solo but also as part of a quartet together with three string instrument players; Kumi Takahara on violin, Utaka Fujiwara from Anoice on viola, and Kaori Tsuchiya on cello, who all also joined Yuki Murata on her latest solo album, 'Sunny Spot Story'. They performed, centring around Yuki Murata's solo project songs as well as also two tracks from Anoice, to which she belongs, to create a concert album including excellent songs which sometimes make you feel a warm and gentle peacefulness, and sometimes a quiet and dark nervousness.

Takahiro Kido from Anoice took charge of the engineer for recording, mixing, and mastering. In addition, Tadashi Yoshikawa from Anoice directed the concert, and its video will be available to view with a full length on the following YouTube link at 8 pm Japan time on December 1st. Not to mention, Yuki Murata and Utaka Fujiwara who joined as the viola player, all the members of Anoice created this masterpiece together.

Sometimes I can't tell if my mood is driving the music I'm playing, or if the music is influencing my mood. I think it's a little of both. But this Saturday morning, I'm waking up to another gentle day. The city is peaceful just behind my curtains, like a frozen postcard from a moment stuck in time. Only the clouds seem to move, announcing the passage of hours. I turn back to music, to feel something 'changing', and with it, emotions, perceptions and senses are all that I know that are signs of my 'life'. Today's soundtrack to the imaginary narrative is a piece by Richard Luke appropriately titled "Silent Story". This track originally appeared on Luke's 2019 release on Moderna titled Glass Island, and today we are honoured with a rework, this time accompanied by short thumping bass, and gorgeous string passages courtesy of Amira Bedrush-McDonald. This piece is taken from an upcoming EP, featuring additional reworks by Daigo Hanada, Aisling Brouwer, Jakob Lindhagen, Halftribe and Anna Pluto. I hope that it starts off your quiet May weekend, as it has revealed all that's real in mine.
