Wow, I want to Thank You guys so much for all of your support for 2021. You guys listened to my YouTube channel over 1.2 million times this year from every corner of the globe. I like many of you had a couple of challenges this year but as we know, Music continues to be a "safe space" and an incredible sanctuary.  This is my last mix of the year and I guess its fitting that its a Vinyl Sessions set. As you can see vinyl has me totally "Hooked" like I was when I first started playing records growing up in Detroit in the early 80's. This is my 8th "VS" mix this year, (LOL) that's a lot of wax but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Vol. 13 starts out with an all time classic "You Used to Hold Me" by Chicago legend: Ralphi Rosario, brought back to life on 7" by Kai Alce and DJ Spinna. (Whew) There are also bangers from Monique Bingham, Louie Vega and a couple from Peven Everett to name a few and I ended it with some "Life Music" from my homie Gari Romalis. This mix was so fun to make and I really hope you guys enjoy it makes you smile. Ok enough is enough, Let's Dance!!!

GREG WILSON’S EARLY 80’S FLOORFILLERS: 
A fascinating insight on how the fading Jazz-Funk scene gave way to the emerging Electro-Funk movement in the early 80’s, ‘Greg Wilson’s Early 80’s Floorfillers’, marks the 30th anniversary of when these tracks first appeared. Compiled from his record lists of the time, and unfolding month by month, Greg Wilson counts down the Top 10 Floorfillers played at his venues during the key years of ’82 and ’83. Featured, most notably, on his Tuesday sessions at Wigan Pier and Wednesday gatherings at Legend in Manchester, the most cutting-edge weekly black music nights of the era, these were the clubs most associated with the evolving Electro-Funk sound.

The majority of music played on the black scene in the UK was initially only available on import, mainly out of New York during this period, with the club nights described as ‘upfront’, meaning that the DJ’s were way ahead of the curve – what they played now, others played later, or not at all. Without these DJ’s, many now classic dance tracks would never have become UK hits (many without enjoying similar crossover success in the US) – the reason they were released here in the first place was because these specialist DJ’s were breaking them via the underground.

Things would change in a big way during those 2 years; we were entering the hybrid age for dance music, and the oncoming House and Techno and Hip Hop directions would all owe a huge debt to this era of dance alchemy and groove experimentation.

DJ Master Said is always looking for perfection when it come to mix tracks flawlessly, avoiding "easy" beats on beats mixing and looking for melody, harmony and creativity in the mix which can take a lot of time for preparation/realization. You may notice that some of the tracks in the sets are edited to avoid unnecessary repetitive parts and some have an added beat to give it more energy...

DJ Master Saïd entered the world of DJing in 1978 with his then best friend, Marco Capitani, in the middle of the disco era...In the summer of 1983 he entered the Club Mediterannée, the French corporation of vacation resorts, as a teacher of computer programming/gaming (on Atari) and that's where he got the name "Master Saïd". Spending all his nights at the discotheque he soon switched his job to DJ and the name remained...
Till 1990 he performed around sunny and snowy Europe and Africa (Dakar) seven nights a week ! He then lived for 2 years in Marrakech, spinning records at The Byblos and The Diamant Noir...
It was then time to settle down and he then became a records shop manager back home in Brussels. 
He now mix at home with Traktor and his computer or on his two Denon SC5000 Prime for his own pleasure and the one to share it all around the world thanks to the web.

He now work in a Hi-Fi shop in Brussels
