Akasha FX is the production project of Reel Me Records label owner Kris Townsend, already he has over 20 releases out under this name with tracks licensed to major TV and Films such as CSI and Nikita, he also has been championed by Eddie Temple Morris and such. With this track he brings in not only the vocal talents of Trinidadian Singer 'Coreysan' but now also the cello of J Rokka and remix duties of Jon Kennedy, soon to be release on Reel Me Records, here is a taster.

After Gerry Read's opening effort for the new house music aligned Delsin series, Soul 223 aka Steve Pickton steps up. Productions under this alias are few and far between for Pickton, but the man himself has been producing melodic, Detroit inspired sounds since the mid 90s, most often as Stasis on labels like Peacefrog and Mo Wax. 

A keen sense of melodic colour also characterises the four cuts that make up this EP, with the first, 'Almost Like It Used To Be' pairing radiant pads with a lolloping house beat and plenty of melted synth sounds.  Next up, 'Arties Mood' slows to a Moodymann styled pace, layering percussive samples, keys and jazzy motifs onto of a lazy house beat to conjure a perfect sunny afternoon vibe. 

'Heartstrings' is alive with the sound of the cosmos as it rolls on through organic sounding bongos, sharper claps and plenty of neon lines.  Closing track 'Essex' has a gummy, gritty bottom end sweetened by more glistening melodies and key work, all the while chugging along at a most inviting deep house pace. 

This is mature, jazz flecked house music for the more considered moments of the day: essential!

The third man to take the baton in Delsin’s new house aligned sub-series is Helsinki's Trevor Deep Jr. The man himself states his sound is "somewhere between Detroit deepness, classic Chicago house and the moody soundscapes of Helsinki”, something backed up by the three new tracks offered here. 

Clearly a fan of analogue synthesis, opening track 'Keep On' is a gently rolling deep house groove that comes alive with a seriously heart wrenching and super soulful male vocal. In the background, well-defined drums and warm chords swell about like a warm sea, proving not only people from Detroit can make deeper than deep electronica. 

Deep but purposeful, this is house music for the cosiest of late-night dancing spaces that will no doubt bring plenty of deserving attention on Trevor Deep Jr.

Following on from the success of Delsin's new house series, the Dutch label are branching out again with a new sideline in electronica. The first release comes from Venetian producer Seawash and comprises 6 tracks of dense and fuggy, otherworldly sounds.

'Pantomime' opens the EP awash with ethereal yet underwater sounding synths, light and dark contrast with rough and smooth and the effect is one of pure electronic escapism. 'Revolution' shows a lighter side to Seawash and comes over like a mature adult lullaby with harmonic bells dangle above scraping, skeletal percussion. 'Free Alternatives' closes out the first side with a stripped and downbeat air: lazy snares cut out a rhythm as more blissful harmonics drift by like feathery clouds.

On the flip 'Close (Vox)' shimmers like reflections on a lake as an r&b vocal drifts between sun-kissed guitar licks. Slow and sexy without being overly saccharine, it’s more than lush. 'Emeralds' is initially more industrial and sounds like machines in torment before Seawash's surely trademark watery smears dissipate the tension and transport you to a deep sea world once again.

Closer 'Little John' stutters and skips along with only the slightest hint of a ticking hi hat immersed in oceans of aqueous echo and delay. Traces of garage lurk within, but like the EP overall, it’s a truly unique listening experience.

Prospekt-"Games" Jon Kennedy Remix (2013)

Introducing Haraket, a 5 piece from South London who are set to release their debut 12" / digital single on Melodica Recordings this Spring. The band emerged from the creative chaos of school and college bands in and around Peckham that have already given the world King Krule. This is the first in a series of releases with Melodica Recordings, with an album due next year. 
 
Haraket fuse wall-of-sound dynamics with often delicate source material, moody electronics, programmed beats and effected vocal lines. Think a post dubstep version of early Underworld or A Certain Ratio reinvented by the new digital century. 'Taint' / 'Attgo' showcases the young band's keen ear for contrast, sensuous tonal material and high drama, something that is reflected ten-fold in their live shows.


Djrum follows on from his accomplished work on 2nd Drop records with a captivating take on 'Taint',  morphing it into something special. It's moody and dark, sounding like the soundtrack of a film Noir with Hardiman's vocals appearing in a new, smoky light.

Today’s headliner was quick to steal our hearts, as we fell hard four months ago for his title 'Swept Away' made in collaboration with his friend Mr. Gramo.

The two buddies were once students at the Hochschule der populären Künste (University of Fine Arts) in central Berlin where they studied sound design amongst many Berlin newcomers of the current scene such as Egokind, Marlon Hoffstadt, and 4nton.

This EP is to be fully savoured in 3 parts …

We first soothe our way into the delicious world of Parra for Cuva with their piece 'Fading Nights' seducing you with a hypnotizing beat, making way into a magical moment between Nicolas and Anna Naklab, as his faithful sidekick’s vocals exuberate powerful emotion, yet still maintaining a lightness. Let your mind adrift as a thrilling sensation takes over…

Enter a state of release as the EP adjoins under the title 'Small Flowerd', a track which oozes of mind blowing sensuality. The duo creates a natural ease and is sure to fulfil your devastating hunger. A melodious air overwhelms, sending us further into the depths of our imagination.

It’s a journey, a haute couture production which comes to an end with the mastered version of their forerunner title 'Swept Away', once again enhanced by Anna’s sublime vocals, skilfully accompanying a punchy and exhilarating melody.
