XTCLVR, the brainchild of Ukrainian sound artist and audio producer Artem Diachenko from Buchan near Kyiv, is set to release a new album titled 'INVERSE' on Standard Deviation. XTCLVR cinematic soundscapes have been featured in Standard Deviation’s audiovisual project 'Ridne' showcased at the CTM Festival in Berlin, ICA London and La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris. Known for his deep involvement in Kyiv's underground music scene, Artem is also a key member of the Pep Gaffe and Ejekt collectives, representing a fresh wave of Ukrainian independent artists dedicated to alternative and experimental sounds.

XTCLVR's music is characterized by deep, enveloping ambient passages and sharp synthesizer elements that often transform into hip-hop and dub bass lines. The name XTCLVR (ecstasy lover), created in 2019, humorously echoes with the techno culture.

'INVERSE' unveils a different facet of XTCLVR’s sound, with heavier and more aggressive tones. The traditional genres dissolve, and a grotesque tone draws the listener into a surreal, chimeric journeyThe album blends rich synthesizers and post-club polyrhythms with euphoric, upbeat elements, maintaining his distinctive style. Written throughout 2022-2023, the tracks on 'INVERSE' reflect a time of emotional instability and a dream-like state: is this all for real? The music features liquid sonic textures that escalate into distorted synths, fractured noisescapes, and eerie melodies. A standout track, 'FEEL ME', poses a bold inner dialogue, questioning reality itself.

'INVERSE' will be released on Standard Deviation on the 12th of July 2024.

Yuko Araki, a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Tokyo, explores a wide range of
musical endeavors. Initially drawn to the piano as a child, her teenage years saw her
captivated by hardcore and metal music. However, her musical palette expanded
significantly as she delved into various projects, including becoming the drummer of the
band Kuunatic which plays tribal dreamy tales.
Yuko Araki's solo project is where her creativity truly flourishes. Through modular synthesis,
she crafts abstract rhythms and dissonant harmonies, seamlessly blending elements of
noise drone and industrial genres into her compositions. Her exceptional sensitivity in
processing heavy and dense sounds results in a sonic landscape unlike anything else you've
heard before: it's as if a thousand leaves oscillate simultaneously, rooted in Japanese noise
yet entirely distinct. Her music transports listeners into intergalactic noisescapes.
In 2019, Yuko Araki released the EP "I" under the Indonesian label Gerpfast Records,
followed by "II" under the Italian label Commando Vanessa. In 2021, she started working
with Room40, releasing her debut full-length album "End Of Trilogy." She's continued to
release her work through them, with 2023's "IV", focused on creating noise music devoid of
unnecessary clutter. It included a track featuring vocals from Taichi Nagura of Japanese
band Endon.
Additionally, she curated a Remix EP titled "IV X VI (Re:visions)," which showcased
collaborations with a diverse range of artists. Contributors included Jonathan Snipes of
clipping., extreme dark metal band Portal, Lawrence English, Nick Klein, as well as
Japanese producers Scotch Rolex and Golpe Mortal.
She released 'Zenjitsutan - 前日譚,' a harsh noise work that serves as a prequel to her
numbered albums and a direct homage to the Japanese noise scene that ignited her
passion, also through Room40.
Yuko Araki’s performances have taken her across Europe, the UK, Asia, and North America, with shows in cities such as London, Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Brussels, Toronto, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo. She has appeared at respected festivals and venues including MUTEK JP and MODE (Japan), Skaņu Mežs (Latvia), Unsafe+Sounds (Austria), Freespace Noise Fest (Hong Kong), Cafe OTO and IKLECTIK (UK), Cave12 (Switzerland), and Soup (Tokyo).
She has collaborated with visual artists including Jackson Kaki and Daisy Dickinson on A/V
performances.
