J'aime Yuksek

'Harmona' is the first single from Ichisan’s fourth studio album.

It comes with two remixes by Dan Tyler of Idjut Boys and a brand new video created by illustrator Meta Wraber and director Anna Boberg, who has worked with the likes of The Chemical Brothers.

By now, Ichisan is a well-known talent in the world of disco house. The Slovenian is a skilled guitarist and brings his musicality to bear in all his tunes. He counts the likes of Prins Thomas and Pete Herbert as fans and has released numerous EPs and LPs on labels like Nang, Bordello A Parigi and Eskimo.

The fantastic 'Harmona' is a Balearic disco jam with a filtered Moog-style melody, a funky synth bassline and lush flanger-strings. It overflows with colour and charm and is the sort of dance floor dynamite that always takes things to the next level. Remixer Dan Tyler of Idjut Boys is well known for cooking up left of centre and dubbed out house with plenty of disco influences. Firstly, he adds his wonky tape delay and signature flange over the main theme to take it in a new direction. He also offers an Acid Casualty mix that is more gnarly and perfect for darker dance floors.
The accompanying video sees the watercolour paintings of Meta Wraber brought to life by Anna Boberg. Meta is Ichisan’s partner, and a successful illustrator. Anna is a wizard with after-effects and a notable animator - a dream team for this blissful track!

The collaboration between label boss Yuksek and Villa came about after they remixed his track 'Always On The Run' and played various gigs together in London and Paris. Villa came up with the initial idea for the EP during a big party session in their studio. Once the hangover had subsided,Yuksek came on board and the trio reworked the tracks to complete this epic release.

After three groundbreaking albums as Hercules & Love Affair, Andy Butler – the driving force behind the retro-futurist disco house kingpins – releases his debut solo EP on February 23rd.  

The EP features two tracks and is released on mr.intl - Butler’s own label.  Leading with You Can Shine - hard-hitting techno-soul and showcasing the impassioned vocals of rising NYC star Richard Kennedy, it’s backed with Personality Track, a whiplashing techy instrumental pounder. 

“Hercules has a collaborative, collective approach," Andy explains, "People who enjoy Hercules anticipate uplifting, vocal-orientated, disco-influenced music, something nuanced and quite musical, a proper listening experience. 'Shine' goes for a more direct approach, a stomping, uplifting club 12" but it's me, isn't it, so it will still have something of Hercules about it."

"I wanted to tap into the gospel tradition, for there to be a testifying quality to the record,” he continues. “Richard and I talk in the lyrics about putting ego aside and allowing people around you to shine. You shine when you acknowledge other people's shine, even, if you will, the creator's shine. I hope we've created something new. House is often soulful but you very rarely hear a big gospel-inflected voice paired with booming, doomy techno."

'You Can Shine' follows an incredible year for Hercules & Love Affair. Their third album 'The Feast of the Broken Heart', was released to exceptional global critical acclaim and the collective embarked on an extensive worldwide tour. A tougher, more electronic body of work than its predecessors, ‘The Feast Of The Broken Heart’ hinted at the direction in which Andy's solo material was heading.

mr.intl was launched in 2009, prompted by Andy’s travels around the world and a “fascination for regional music. I wanted to start releasing music on a global level, offering a representation of amazing music that's happening elsewhere."  Butler has accrued a wealth of new talent and lost underground classics for forthcoming release on the label. The roster includes DJs and producers from Vienna, Australia, Brazil and Iceland, the latter a band called Sisi Ey who are already making waves.  In addition to his own material, he'll be re-releasing lost classics from the acid house and Belgian New Beat eras.

In addition to live appearances with Hercules & Love Affair, Butler continues to criss-cross the globe with DJ dates in Chile, USA, Canada, Mexico and the UK in the coming months.
