Forbidden Society is a fiercely independent artist. Whilst building his own solo project this multi-talented Czech artist has also successfully run his own label and clothing line - all whilst maintaining a healthy DJing schedule. His wide skill set is evident in his music, carrying across a range of styles which has spread his reputation much further than his roots in the Czech Republic. Almost a year ago he released one of his most daring projects yet, his ‘Liminal Point’ LP. Landing on his self-titled Forbidden Society imprint, he explored the full potential in his sound to maximum effect - only confirming the praise he’s received throughout his career. 
 Following on from that colossal feat and a collection of bass-laden releases including ‘Subworld’ on Vision Recordings, Forbidden Society is back with more sub shaking cuts. Only this time he turns his head fully to the dark wobbly world of dubstep in a brooding two-tracker. Leading the charge is ‘Ritual’ whose dystopian sounds and screams are slowly lost behind an abundance of droning bass tones and intricate drum patterns. Following suit is ‘Missing Piece’ which sees waves of industrial bass tones sit heavily over the stripped back drums with techno-est percussion and hats flaring the energy levels up.
Now lock yourselves in for a bruising 140 venture from Forbidden Society as he dives straight into this new direction.

Hospital Records are excited to unveil the third instalment of their ‘Future Symptoms’ VA EP series. Pressing deeper into their journey to discover and showcase some of the very best talent within the world of drum & bass, ‘Future Symptoms Vol. 3’ features Nectax, MYKOOL & Lost Child, Mr Joseph & Phoebe Freya, and Jam Thieves.

Stepping up with old school jungle vibes is Nectax with ‘Gold Soul’. With previous releases on RAM and Overview, as well as being picked up by leading dance music publications such as Mixmag and UKF, expect pure 90s euphoria as the Newcastle-based ‘one to watch’ crafts together rugged breakbeats, a hypnotising vocal sample and a pounding 808 bassline.

MYKOOL & Lost Child, who are no strangers to collaborating, get together on ‘Self Made’, a vibe-drenched liquid drum & bass anthem featuring hazy chimes and a shredder of a bassline. With support from the likes of Drum&BassArena and UKF between them, as well as a string of self-releases and releases on Pick ‘N’ Mix Recordings, the future is looking bright for these two.

Drum & bass mainstay Mr Joseph lays down a soul infused banger vocalled by the wonderful Phoebe Freya, the voice behind Etherwood’s ‘Clouds’ Degs’ ‘Trade Places’ (feat. LSB). With an array of releases on Liquid V and his own Fizzy Beats imprint, Mr Joseph is a connoisseur of the jazzier side of drum & bass, and this link up with Phoebe Freya is something special.

Brazilian-based bass bringer Jam Thieves rounds off the release with ‘Bangkok’, packed with mind blowing frequencies that are guaranteed to shred up any soundsystem. These modulated wobbles and a deadly sub bass are just a glimpse into what Jam Thieves is about, with previous releases on Break’s Symmetry Recordings, Playaz and Serial Killaz, he’s only just getting warmed up…

As we round off our third Future Symptoms EP series, don’t sleep on the names of tomorrow as we continue to showcase the sounds of the next generation. With previous Future Symptoms releases bringing through the likes of Winslow, Mozey, Nia Archives, Stay-C, Lally and Disrupta, the future sound of 174BPM is looking serious!

Intergalactic soundshifter Bop is back with yet another mind-bending release on Hospital Records. Made up of four fresh dance music delights each exploring different pockets of the sonic spectrum, the Saint Petersburg-based musical wizard explores the sounds of UK garage, techno, jungle, electronica and ambient on his latest ‘Plexus’ EP.

‘2gether’ opens the release with a futuristic garage number which is set to light up dancefloors throughout the galaxy. Off-beat dubbed out synths, skittery percussions and a classic UK garage bassline with a modern twist are channelled into an all-round electronic weapon, crafted together intricately by Bop.

Entering into the realm of hypnotic techno, ‘Reform’ sees a raw amalgamation of vibrations that will elevate the mind into a higher state of consciousness. Thumping kick drums and dreamlike synthesis carry the weight of the tune as Bop further demonstrates how his flexible approach to production continues to go unmatched in the world of dance music.

Stepping up the tempo on the aptly titled ‘Surfing The Anxiety Waves’, Bop puts his minimal spin on a new-wave jungle slammer. Expect a resonant bassline which falls downwards into the pits of your stomach, accompanied by hard-hitting breakbeats which fizzle out into nothingness before coming back around to strike again. This one is not for the faint hearted.

‘Guilt Of Being A Human’ rounds off the EP with playful melodies and elements of Bop’s classic microfunk sound, reminiscent of his earlier works such as ‘A Song About My Dog’. This electronic delicacy is filled with a vast sense of spaciousness, scattered with a seemingly never-ending amount of musical intricacies.

Not one for sticking to one style, Bop’s versatile sound has seen him rack up support from an array of tastemakers. His most recent ‘Perehod’ EP received the seal of approval from the likes of Ejeca, London Elektricity, Laurent Garnier and Oneman. Also no stranger to topping charts outside of the drum & bass world, his ‘Haze’ track with Subwave reached number 1 on the Beatport Garage chart. With support over the years from the likes of DJ Mag and Resident Advisor, as well as radio support on BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM and Reprezent, not to mention the running of his very own esteemed Microfunk imprint, the sounds of Bop continue to ripple into 2021 and beyond.

One of the most recognisable names for drum & bass in Czechia, Forbidden Society has continually grafted to become a founding figure within the country’s movement. Alongside his more raucous rhythms, he’s also worked on stripping back his sound as well as lowering the tempo, providing a hugely diverse body of work which resulted in his ‘Luminal Point’ LP, dropping in the earlier part of 2020. As well as releases on Noisia’s seminal Vision Recordings, he now provides a follow up for 2021 in the form of a collaboration with drum & bass heavyweight Emperor. Together they offer a glimpse into what Forbidden Society has planned for the new year. 
Growling, sub heavy and with switches that grab the listener subtly, ‘Disremember’ from Forbidden Society and Emperor packs a punch on first play. Released through Forbidden Society’s own platform and clothing brand, his self-titled label, it’s clear that he’s looking to top the success of his 2020 releases. With more to come from the producer, one who has an explosive work ethic, he proves he’s an artist who’s constantly evolving.
