Disclaimer: We are releasing this album to show our support for our friends and some of the key figures behind Jrpjej's distinctive sound - Diana Kulova and Alan Sheudzhen. Everything is going well for them - they recently welcomed a beautiful daughter. With this release, we want to share in their joy and celebrate the years of collaboration, the countless miles traveled, and the heaps of inappropriate humor (coming from us). Back in 2021, when the coronavirus pandemic lseemed like the worst nightmare, casting a shadow over life, Ored Recordings, alongside Jrpjej and Zaur Nagoev, embarked on their inaugural international tour to the Netherlands.

Today, we look back on that period as one of the brightest chapters in the label's and the band's history - a time of voyages, strolls, responsive audience, and the genuine delight of provincial Circassians who ventured on an actual European tour.

Yet, reminiscing about all the meticulous groundwork with documents and logistics, it wasn't the simplest of journeys.

"Creating this record took me around 2 years, I was moving quite a bit, without a steady working or living space, travelling and playing live again for the first time since the pandemic. At first there was creative insecurity and many abandoned ideas, I wanted to make something special for YUKU but everything felt dry and soulless. In my head this was supposed to be a dancefloor record, but this idea quickly became an obstruction in my creative flow.

During this time I started learning modular synthesis, and although there was definitely a learning curve this method of making music gave the record direction and refreshed my way to approach composition. It is also very fun to learn. What came out is a collage of sorts that is more honest and reflective of my emotions and those of the people and spaces that I have exchanged with. Thanks to YUKU and the amazing people that took part in this record and in my life in the past two years. Hope you all enjoy."

"When I started work on this EP I had a clearer than usual concept in mind. Historically I have tended to chip away at several sketches alongside each other, working until I have enough material to form a release. This time around I knew that I wanted to make a four track EP and that it would be geared further toward a club setting than some of my previous output. I also decided to adopt a faster and more methodical workflow; I would work quickly once I had the bare bones of a track, not allowing myself much time to agonize over the finer details, overcooking it, as is all too often the demise of a good idea. Once I had a shortlist of tracks to get over the line, I would finish them one-by-one in series, rather than simultaneously in fits and starts. Aside from ‘Toe Curl’, each track here was road tested in a live performance setting at least once during its development, forcing me to strip them back and emphasize their most exciting elements, and to remove any stretches that went on for too long unnecessarily. I think that this way of working has resulted in music that is less fussy and more cohesive than it might otherwise have been. Hence ‘Writ Large’: Clear, stark, exaggerated."
