Music is my medicine & has helped me get through alot of hard times by being a way of expressing certain feelings we sometimes deny ourselves of having when we are growing up until we find ourselves and know who we are. 
A lot of the old skool tracks remind me of different times in my life & the fact i remember the words to so many of them reflects how i always went to music to soul search & find some inner peace mentally & emotionally.  I also look at music like another language that brings ppl together with a common understanding.
