my tribute to the pioneering asian underground of the 90s and early 00s alongside more contemporary inspirations. delving into the sounds of jungle, dnb as well as bhangra, i wanted to play the sort of set no one was expecting. ended up being the most fun i had behind the decks, i just hope you enjoy listening to it as much as i did mixing it! 🧡

Yung Singh is an open format DJ. His sets can vary in genre from Garage to grime, old-school jungle and DnB expertly blended with Punjabi folk, nostalgic trance, hip-hop, and everything in between. 

Singh's set was a highlight from AVA in the Woods at All Together Now 2022 as well as our candle-lit New Year's Eve Party in London. Subsidance Guestmix for Pressa on AAJA

Stepping up for a special entry in the Members Mix series we have Balamii and Day Timers affiliate Yung Singh providing us with the Sounds of Punjabi Garage. Peep what he has to say about the mix and the importance of the underground Punjabi scene of the late 90s/early 00s:

“I really wanted to put together a mix that showcased the full range of Punjabi garage, from proper speedy garage to 4x4 with loads of swing, proper shuffly 2-step ,and more contemporary releases. There are tunes in here from the 90s, early 00s all the way to brand new and unreleased bits. One hour of 100% garage from 100% Punjabi producers/vocalists. 

This mix is really an ode to the late 90s/early 00s Asian Underground movement that was so important for mine and my older sibling's generation - one of the main reasons I got into music and DJing was mostly because of listening to my older siblings playing garage/jungle/house when I was growing up, with Punjabi garage my first love! “
