Recorded in isolation by Yusuf Ahmed & Munir Hossn, "Senhora Vida" is a joyous homage to Iemanja through the lens of Afro Brazilian culture.

Brazilian producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Munir Hossn, has collaborated, produced and shared projects with artists as Joe Zawinul Syndicate, Quincy Jones e The Global Gumbo All Stars feat. Alfredo Rodriguez, Concha Buika, Hermeto Pascoal, Roberto Fonseca, and Mayra Andrade.

An Anglo-Italian-Pakistani drummer and producer raised and based in London, Yusuf is an active musician in a wide variety of genres in the thriving London scene. This single marks the ﬁrst release representing one of his many inﬂuences which make up the blueprint of his musical aesthetic.

The song also features members of London-based lusophone jazz ensemble Caravela, with Joseph Costi on keyboards, Telmo Sousa on guitar and Jansen Santana on percussion.

"Senhora Vida" will see a digital release on June 27 via Yusuf's own self-titled imprint.

Call it Love is a plethora of soothing harmonies lead by an intimate voice. At the bottom end of the track lies a warm groove bringing together elements of Soul and Jazz.

Anglo - Italian - Pakistani drummer and producer raised and based in London, Yusuf Ahmed is an active musician in a wide variety of genres in the thriving London scene.  

Inês Loubet is an award-winning Portuguese vocalist, composer & multi-instrumentalist based in London. As well as performing with Bahla and Caravela, she is producing her own sound with strong influences from her jazz training, her Portuguese roots & recently discovered electronic soundscapes.

For this release, bass player Karl Rasheed Abel (Laura Mvula/Christine and the Queens/Shabaka Hutchings/Omar) graciously sows a thread through the winding harmonies and asymmetric rhythm.

Welcome to Episode 1 of 'New Music Energy' - my new radio show dedicated entirely to new music. 

Since finishing my BBC Residency, and having pretty much all my gigs cancelled this year, I haven't had as many opportunities as usual to share my favourite music with the world!
