2024 has been full of these emotions.

Confusion - Exploration - Re-Discovery

Being absent, removed by many kilometres and time zones, has felt strange in a year of such substantial change. Important milestones, devastating loss, moments of astounding joy, all experienced through a veil of isolation. 

Missing loved ones back home and abroad, whilst making life-long friendships and enduring memories in a new home is an interesting feeling. To simultaneously feel so accepted and cared for in new ventures, whilst desperately longing for the known, leads to confusion and contradicting emotions. 

Since moving to the UK, I have consumed more music than ever before. However, in the turbulence of living abroad, I have never felt more disconnected from music and how I want to present it. Something that is so creative and enjoyable, revealing of one's current sense of self, has never felt more intimidating. Confidence is key, and it has been something I have struggled with during this period. 

In this 2hr mix, recorded on a rainy and cold Saturday afternoon in London, I move away from my usual techno offering. I have been sitting on this collection of music for the better part of a year and a half. The music presented in this mix marks the wide variety of emotions felt during this time. 

The way in which we connect with music is often different, moments where I aim to convey sadness may elicit feelings of joy, but this is where the beauty of music lies; the individuality of self-expression, and connection. 

This is not a moment of self-pity, but rather a step towards a positive future. I have learned a lot about myself, and in truth, about music, in these two years.

I hope in listening to this mix, you are supported to reflect on what 2024 has meant to you. 

Expect low-slung grooves, contemplative vocals, and dubbed out minimal loops.

Deep and hypnotic - Introspective through to party.

Hailing from Eora/Sydney, and having recently moved to London, Zac Walls’ sound reflects his wide range of influences. No matter the setting, Zac’s selections showcase pioneering sound design. His sound is dominated by transient atmospherics and considered texture, deep bass lines, and hooks that keep the movement on the dance floor. 

The art of story telling is not lost on Zac, and he aims to take the audience on this journey. Zac aims to find the balance between energising and challenging an audience. 

One half of obfuscate, Zac finds himself closely connected with the Eora underground scene, but always pushing for novel sounds.
