Madeline may be one of Smartbar's (Chicago) newest residents, but their vocal-forward club sets have been rousing Chicago dance floors for almost a decade. Sensual vocals and thundering toms imbue the Gramaphone Record's alum's sound with a characteristic warmth during peak-time sets at Smartbar's iconic weekly party Queen! and beyond. A seasoned radio host, disciplined student of music history, and skilled DJ in both vinyl and digital formats, Madeline's club-and techno-tinged house selections weave the genre-defining sounds of Chicago into the varied sonic fabric of the future.

"I’m known as a house DJ and I definitely identify with that label, but I focus on letting the energy of house guide my sets moreso than the genre. This mix is bit faster, a bit darker than you might typically hear me play. It has a tension that creates an uneasy undertone, but still with a groove and warmth. Enjoy!"

"To me, this mix feels like being in the midst of a psychedelic thunderstorm. At times, it feels like the sky is about to fall and the earth is about to crack open, but it comes and goes in cycles. There are moments that seem to suddenly spit you out into a cerebral fog, and as the clouds break, you're in awe of yourself & your capacity for existence. Sub-bass frequencies roll through like thunder claps, stirring up innate, carnal energy. Syncopated, twisted, ethereal rhythms encourage you to completely lose yourself. I wanted to capture the feeling of moving through moments of intensity and coming out on the other side, feeling relief while still preparing to ride the next wave."

Mx. Blaire is drawn to the magic that’s released when humans convene together. Organizing events in Boston, she strives to curate environments where folks can release their inhibitions for true self-expression and encourage celebration of radical love. She is an organizer and one of the resident DJs of the Queer dance collective, Boudoir.

They like to float through multiple genres during any given set and find joy moving through different sonic textures while keeping a fluid groove. They let their emotions flow through in sets to open up a conversation with listeners and dancers alike. A humble guide for helping healing bass tones and rejuvenating frequencies pass through speakers.

A creature is born out of the ashes of human remains after a mass extinction event. Emerging into a new world where nothing else shares its consciousness, it assembles clues to its lineage through the drum, pitched instruments, and the human voice. Slowly accumulating more and more breakbeats over time, it goes through phases of discovery and learning before reaching an eventual cacophony – the overwhelming pain of knowing the fatal flaws which cause its ancestors’ demise. Eventually it reaches a gentle reconciliation, an understanding of its history with the courage to move forward in its own light in a grim new world.

AFTRMTH (Kyle Rogers) is a DJ and musicologist based in Brooklyn. Raised by jazz musicians, he came to dance music through the queer DIY scenes in 2010s NYC and Atlanta. Though his sets span genre and tempo, he has a particular affinity for the rhythmic experiments of jungle and drumfunk and the bassweight of dubstep. He is a graduate student at the NYU Department of Music.
