Lusine has been one of my favourite producers for a long time. I'm just going back over some of his first releases on Ghostly International from the early 00's, and it's amazing how ahead of the game he's always been. His combination of delicate productions and beautiful warm analogue melodies, intricacies and amazing shuffling grooves have been a big inspiration for me over the years, with his "A certain distance" album from 2009 being one of my all-time most listened too albums.

So Lusine was one of my ideal remixers for the album, and thanks to Sean at Decibel festival, the hookup was made and he was into the idea. He's turned out a beautiful remix of Woven Ancestry, which if you've seen me play recently, you probably heard in my set. The mix has special balance of being a great piece of music to listen to at home, but then when it's unleashed in a club it's groove takes on a whole new life which I hadn't seen coming until I tried it out - Thanks Jeff!

Matt Tolfrey's career really kicked off in 2002 when he held his residency at Nottingham's The Bomb. There he was able to showcase his varied selection, open mind and the ability to read and lead a crowd. These skills made it possible for the allrounder to keep UK house and techno very much on the map, helping him link with both veterans and the younger generation.

For March, we explore what I like to call the richer side of deep house. I offer deep sub-bass lows complemented by warm spacey highs, lush synth sweeps, sensual vocal hooks, and a prog-influenced resolution. Progressive house has been entering my consciousness these last few months in various manifestations. These last few years, I admittedly thought "prog" was a dirty word, but as of late I've been finding music that holds on to the melodic beauty of prog, injects deep house grooves, yet still maneuvers away from the cheese the genre has been branded...all of which I think you'll hear in the 2nd half of this mix.

This week we are treated to four headliners, Leftwing and Kody top the bill, these boys have exploded in the past year and now topping beatport charts and smashing dance floors.

Leftwing & Kody grab a sound from the past and bring it right up to date with their own stylistic flourishes. Drawing influences from UK garage labels like Nice n Ripe, Swing City and 500 Rekords, their jacking grooves, swinging hats, hooky, low slung synths and monstrous basslines have been bringing heat to knowing dance floors all over the country for the last 6 months.

The sets the duo energetically spin are made up of lots of their own edits and originals, helping to mark out their sounds from the crowd and plotting a cultured line between house, garage and more.

Timmy P is up next, you can expect Timmy to rock up with a record box full of banging house, with releases on Local talk, Tomorrow is now kid and Extended Play to name a few, this guy is all about up front house and making the dance floor move.

Martin Ikin has been on the scene for a long time now, better known as Soul Purpose but with recent releases on Off recordings it’s a new era for Martin and we are looking forward to a set full of his own productions and some classic house.

The bill is rounded off by our new resident DJ Caspa, having played at most parties deemed to be credible on the London circuit, Caspa knows exactly how the scene works and how it’s developed and grown over the years musically and seen many trends come and go. Caspa shares the same view as us that House music has been around for many years and as other genre’s have their day house music is here to stay.

DJ Dan Presents Stereo Damage - Episode 37

Dynamism....from a metaphysical perspective, it's the belief that the nature of every substance contains an expression of the universe. As an artistic movement, dynamism is the capture of an objects motion - both intrinsic and relative to its environment. To me, Dynamism is the push and pull of intensity and energy.

I consider this mix one of my more ambitious efforts, aiming to work through strong swings of intensity, melody, and motion while still staying on some semblance of a cogent course. I find that this is a mix that I enjoy the more I listen to it, which usually isn't the case. I hope it resonates with you as much as it does for me.

I spent the last month traveling to various corners of the world. Some of the time was spent for gigs, some of the time at AfrikaBurn, and some was visiting friends and family. Amidst all the excitement, flying, partying, and jet lag, I'd often waver between desperately trying to stay awake and the opposite, hopelessly trying to fall asleep. During these bouts of insomnia, I found myself in a half-asleep dream-like state that I think made its way through into the feeling of this mix: varying levels of intensity while still holding on to a floating, dream-like state.
