Beim Schlafengehen is the third song in Strauss's song cycle, The Four Last Songs. Written just before his death, these songs are set to poems written by Herman Hesse, Joseph Karl Benedikt & Freiherr von Eichendorff. They are widely recognized among the most beautiful music ever written for the soprano voice. 

Vocals by Stacie Eirich, piano by Tom Jesty. Recorded in isolation in 2021, following an online masterclass lead by The Choir of the Earth & Ms. Lucy Cox.

Freundlich die gestirnte Nacht
Wie ein müdes Kind empfangen.

While going to sleep

Now that the day has made me so tired,
my dearest longings shall
be accepted kindly by the starry night
like a weary child.

A Ring

This well known piece of Bach is briljant in it's simplicity. Every note is in its right place and it is also a fine example of 'parlando', or playing as if it was spoken. I made some little adjustments too the original. Close your eyes and imagine the piano is telling you a story. I hope you'll enjoy this monologue.

Here is a recent school assignment I wrote called “These Died With Honour” - While trying to keep the melody sober and tainted with sorrow, I wanted to imbue it with a sense of accomplishment and victory.

To me, this track was a kind of introduction to Wane of Summer's music when I just heard it. So it was an absolute pleasure to remix it!
