BLEND IT AND REND IT BROTHER!

If that dang ass toaster movie had a rampaging murder blender, my childhood would’ve been very different…MOVING ON!

I enjoyed the game idea from TT-011_VR-Vacuum so much that I decided to create another entry in the misfit household appliance boss battler series! I plan on making more of these in the future and will package them together in a music pack with some KILLER artwork!

Sticking with good ol’ Super Audio Cart, I blended together some neat sounds that sound kinda funky and groovy. That’s what happens when you listen to Tee Lopes and “King of the Spill” decides to live rent free up in that noggin’. I he*kin’ love Slap Bass + Triangle combo, it just gets me movin’ and groovin’, especially paired with the Drum rhythm. I wanted to experiment with the Noise Menu to push the Tech Gone Nuts prompt and adding panning rhythmic hits at varying octaves sounds so wild and crazy. Perfect for being stuck inside a malicious blender, slowly sliding through the protein shake and trying to avoid being ripped to shreds. I thought it would be neat to have one of the Lead Saws be slippy and slidey, so the left lead plays some slippery leads, while the right lead follows more arpeggiated shreddage. There’s also a backing Pulse playing some chords and plucking through a sweep arpeggio to add some tension and body.

TT-040: Forgiveness/Scifi

WOWEE IDK what happened with this track, my finger just slipped ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It gives me major Final Fantasy vibes. Specifically, boss fights against the summons (I’m lookin’ at you Ifrit, bring that ASS OVER HERE FOR A WHOOPIN’ 😡)

I was kinda unsure about the direction of the prompt. I was thinking about maybe doing something space-y or doing some neat electronic fusion type thing, but I couldn’t settle on anything, so I just started fiddlin’ around with melodies and chord progressions to try and find something that can convey Forgiveness. I’ve found that using Piano as a skeleton (AHHHH) to plot out basic chords, melodies, countermelodies, harmonies, and simple flairs has been really helpful! Once I figured out something that sounded forgiving, with some neat repeated motifs throughout different octaves, I went to Percussion because I just couldn’t get this snare pattern out of my brain and it needed to come out. Love me some rhythmic, marching snare patterns! I still wasn’t too sure about direction yet, so I decided to do a full orchestral piece since it’d been awhile, and just started converting the basic notes from Piano to Strings. Violin 1 plays the melody, layered between CineStrings Solo and Abbey Road One for extra emphasis. Similarly, Cello mimics the snare pattern using the chord progression, also layered between CSS and ARO. Sounds crispy! It was during this transposing that I stumbled into the ostinato and I was like, “HOLY SANTA CLAUSE SHIT THIS RULES!” and then proceeded to sprinkle it throughout the song. The Brass section is full of beefy rhythmic flairs and the Woodwinds just sound so angelic.

I'M TRYING TO USE THE PHONE!!

Oh yes, the return of the malfunctioning, malicious household appliances! (TT-011, 035) This is such a goofy and fun game concept. I am definitely planning on writing more for this and releasing it as a music pack! I was feeling the itch to write something in a metal band composition, but make it chiptune. I setup the Pulse 12.5% as the Left Lead, the  Pulse 25% as the Right Lead, Add 2 for Left Rhythm, Pulse 1% for Right Rhythm, Triangle + BASS Slap for Bass, and Drumkit 1 for the Drums. I loved the upbeat craziness from "TT-035 Blender Beatdown", so I wanted to bring that style back. For the lead melodies, I started writing the Left Lead first and wanted to repeat it on the Right Lead, but I copy/pasted in the wrong spot which led to the offbeat variation, which was just a nice happy little accident. And then I got crazy and tried to layer them on top of each other and it turned off to be he*kin wild dude.

TT-052: Isolation/Samurai

Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow…🐉🐄

Oh HELL YEAH BROTHER I love me some world/ethnic music and I've always wanted to try and write something in a Japanese style. However, I was also feelin' another 2D Platformer Level Theme/Boss Theme, so I chose Chiptune instruments. I really vibe with those styles of games and they're so much fun to write. The Shamisen has such an interesting sound to it, it almost sounds like every note is being quickly slid into it with a quick decay. It's a gr8t sound for these quick, upbeat riffs and arpeggios. It just sounds so intense! The Koto also has a noticeably unique sound. I think I could've done more with it like adding extra vibrato and bends because from the research I did, that's what I heard and to me, that's what gives it that traditional & iconic sound, but I wasn't confident in my skills. Oops 🙈 Also MIDI is just really a pain to automate bends and vibrato and nobody got time for that. For the other iconic Japanese sounds, I used the Hyōshigi which is just instantly recognizable, and I also used some percussive tom work which is commonly heard in ethnic/world pieces. I decided to use more of a Drum and Bass direction for those respective instruments because I like the way they sound in this style of music, and they help beef up the overall composition since the Chiptune leads are sort of thin on their own. Combining the Percs & Bass with the Japanese instruments creates a cool fusion of genres, which I'm a huge fan of. Lastly, I used an Airy Pad to help set the setting and provide some ambience the he*kin concept I was going for! Imagine you're out adventuring through a clifftop monastery, in search of a legendary warrior who has been exiled from their clan. The reason? Well…that's for you to decide in your game!

The people all lived and cooked together, until one day Yeet was born. Yeet grew up in violence, and this has led him to grow numb, fearless, ambitious, and powerful. Yeet has no conscious, and this very thing is what threatens the existence of everyone and everything. Because Yeet will not stop until he has everyone, and everything under his spell.
