Our latest SORRYMIX comes via one of of favorite figures in the American underground Mx. Blaire (@mxblaire). Blaire is a wealth of passion, enthusiasm, and killer tracks. A real cornerstone of the Boston scene and beyond - Blaire is a resident of both Boston’s queer rave collective Boudoir and the breaks-focused Breakfast Collective. SORRYMIX38 finds them performing at Chicago's Smart Bar for the first time for mutual friend Club Chow's monthly party Club Gauche on Thursday August 8th, 2024. Mixed with 2 turntables, 2 CDJs, a mixer, and plenty of scratch records!

This set was incredibly special for me as it was my first time playing in the Midwest - the birthplace of so much music I hold near and dear. I wanted to come into this set with high energy that paced the dancers and a sense of forward motion that would compel them to stay until the last song played. The crowd's energy & reception was unparalleled with people hoopin n hollerin' at every turn. I spent the summer upping my scratch n drop game so to see that hard work pay off during the set felt like a big "fuck yeah!" I felt really free to explore the freakier side of my record bag for this set and I'm thrilled with how it all came out.

o•rbyss aims to help soothe the queer spectrum and focus on the well-being of the community. Queer DJs are invited to submit a mix to showcase an alternative side to their music library outside of a rave and take us on a meditative journey. ✨

Notes on the mix:

This mix was recorded at the o•rbyss Queer Ambient Sauna session at Sauna Social Club in Peckham on 4th January 2025. Dive into 4 hours of warm, cosy vibes from ambient and downtempo to trance, breaks and trip-hop. 

FAFF -  Elliott & Orny are the duo behind BDE Records and one of the most exciting acts to have burst onto the scene within the last few years. Their unique and exciting style spans across club music genres, and has earned them spots playing at Field Manuevers, UNFOLD, Fabric and Draaimolen festival. FAFF’s production talent is also clear with their most recent releases on Ec2a’s Unit 6 & Fabric Records, they harness dreamlike synths and unique samples to create a genre-bending sound that can be truly said to be their own.

microfossil is a brooklyn-based dj driven by the love, relationships, and possibilities found on the dancefloor. born and raised in nyc, he particularly enjoys engaging with and celebrating this city’s rich dance music, club, and queer history, and he finds great joy and pride in participating in its continuation through the present and future. he enjoys mixing between a wide range of genres, with a particular soft spot for prog, classic house, and electro.  he is a resident at metropolitan bar, where he co-organizes the monthly trans-centered party and mutual aid fundraiser, top surgery, with elly dj.
