I told the Lord, I’d die for Him; 
I thought I was so strong.
Yet I three times, denied Him then
In weakness, I was wrong.
In shame, I followed far behind,
But He looked back at me.
He knew I’d fail and fall three times.
Now weeping bitterly.

“And Peter,” means also “and you.”

Rise up, and go to see the Lord!

I wait three days in silent guilt
I wish the Lord forgot.
I wonder, could He love me still  
Is now my only thought
But when He speaks my name so soft—
Though others note it not—
New hope and joy now fill my heart
As He these tidings brought:

And strengthen me to turn.
Since willingly You died for me,
Your love won’t cease to burn.
I failed and fell, yet You still came
And loved me e’en in sin.
So now when I feel far away
I hear these words again:

Now with Your love and strength’ning power
Your sheep I’d shepherd here,
And with this love You showed me now
I’d feed the flock, so dear.
This feeding builds the church in love—
The love I felt that day.
The Lord will never give us up.
