It's been quite some time since I've posted a mix, but I've decided to get back in the habit of it. Over the past years, I've recorded many mixes, but was held back by posting them due to various imperfections. "Don't let the perfect get in the way of the necessary!" a mentor of mine used to say. So, let's get back to it with this lovely chill house mix.

This mix is dedicated to two incredible people, Dave and Amy, who live their lives in a perpetual embrace of love, creativity, celebration and freedom. These are some of the tracks I played for them in a magical place, out of time, out of reality, out in space, and full of love. I'm grateful for generous people like you who honor and support artists in their craft.

BootsTrap - Volume 1 (Chill Trap Mixtape)

Emerging from a long hiatus from my recording studio, I am thrilled to offer you this rich and energetic mix of bass, remixes, drum & bass, mashup, dubstep and mid-tempo house beats. I believe you folks are going to really enjoy this one, as I've had it on repeat for a while and it still sounds fresh and exciting. Turn up the volume and join me as we romp through chunky dance tracks, some new and some well known and loved.

I'd like to dedicate this to the many people who have been messaging me over the past few years, begging me to release new mixes. You know who you are! I can't tell you how loved and appreciated this has made me feel. I may not be famous, but it feels good to know that I have really dedicated fans. You are the best! Lettuce Turnip Beets Vol. 8

This mix is named after a magical night with my friends Cassidy & Christina as we tromped around Oregon Country Fair creating puns out of various farm terms. The best which was Lettuce Turnip Beets. Over coming months I plan on releasing a number of new mixes to blast off the coming 2010 summer festival season. Stay tuned for more as I currently have 14 different mixes in progress. This mix is a slower dance set that ranges from 92 to 100 BPM. The next 2 mixes from this series will be a bit faster with a similar style of mashups intertwined with thick dance beats.

BootsTrap Vol. 2 - (Chill Trap Mixtape)

The second set of the Lettuce Turnip Beets series defies genres and revisits familiar songs in new ways. This one ramps it up a bit from the first mix in tempo as well as energy. With a BPM of about 125 it's a whomper dance set that should hopefully inspire you to turn it up and move your body. Again, with all my music, this is a very eclectic mix that should spread the gamut of generations and music styles. Take a trip through mashups, breaks, house, classic rock, reggae, electro, and some that cannot be classifiied. Enjoy the music and share it!

This is a DJ mix that has been in the works for many years. After finally compiling my collection of reggae mashups and remixes, I discovered that I had enough great music for more than one mix, so here is volume one. Rasta Rediscovered is an exploration of Reggae through Mashups, Bootlegs, remixes & rare re-creations. This eclectic mix of Reggae mashups and strange re-creations bring together many musical genres under the familiar bass lines and beloved riddims of Jah Music. This is a live mix by yours truly.

On Christmas, dreams really do come true. After almost a decade, DJ Zack Darling has decided to jingle his bells once again on the holidays. I am pleased to give you the third volume of the much loved SantaMash series of DJ mixes. 

Over the years, SantaMash Volume 1 and SantaMash Volume 2 - Clause & Effects, have become regular soundtracks to many of your holiday parties, gatherings, long drives to see family, kitchen dance parties or present-wrapping sessions. I am eternally grateful to you, my devoted fans, for checking in with me every year to see if I'll release another mix. I'm happy to finally be in a creative space to jump back into my love of making mixes.

SantaMash Vol. 3 - The Elfstep Sleighlist

This year I had the distinct honor of being the first DJ of the year for the Sebastopol Ecstatic Dance in Northern California. Coincidentally, many years ago, I helped start the Sebastopol Ecstatic Dance with some of my dearest friends. I was the first DJ to play an Ecstatic Dance in Sebastopol. It was kind of a homecoming for me as I love the Ecstatic Dance format, but haven't been playing in this world for a while... since my 3 year tour with Wanderlust Festival which ended a while back.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this set I put together and dance through the journey I offered to the amazing room of dancers and friends. Thank you, Loi for keeping the flame alive. ;)

Zack Darling Live: Ecstatic Dance Sebastopol

If you journey far into the mountains of Northern California, through the majestic redwoods and follow the Eel River northward, you'll find a very special gathering of beautiful friends and family. Every year we gather to dance under the trees, swim in the river and reconnect with each other at the Northern Nights Music Festival. I have been blessed to be one of the longest-running booked DJ's at this festival over the years. It's my honor to play for my friends and I'm happy to share one of my most recent sets with you now. Every year I play at the Madrone Camp Stage to my close friends, cannabis lovers and Skinny Kitty family.

Zack Darling is a mashup, bass/dubstep, house, downtempo, yoga and reggae DJ from Northern California who is widely known for a diverse and eclectic style of dance music.

Zack is a 2-time winner oF the “Best DJ in the North Bay” award and has shared the stage with artist such as Mix Master Mike, Michael Franti, Slightly Stoopid, Metallica, Matisyahu, Rebelution, Phutureprimitive, Beats Antique, Delhi 2 Dublin, Kayla Scintilla and countless festival headliner artists and DJs. He’s played at venues such as The Fillmore (SF), Shoreline Amphitheater, Regency Ballroom as well as some of the biggest festivals, concerts and nightclubs around the US West Coast. Zack’s music has been featured at Wanderlust Festival, Enchanted Forest Festival, Symbiosis Gathering, Lightning in a Bottle, Envision Festival, Raindance Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, BottleRock Napa Valley, Ecstatic Dance Oakland, Burning Man, Lucidity Festival, Emerald Cup, Northern Nights, Bliss Camp, HushFest, Foreverland and the legendary Skunk Train parties. 

His unique style of classic rock & mashup dance floor fusion has built him loyal audiences at festivals, clubs, concerts, living rooms and car stereos. Zack’s DJ career spans over 25 years and began as a 14 year old electro-reggae-punk DJ playing late night sessions on public and pirate radio stations in Northern California. He’s since dropped multi-genre-smackdown dance sets on night clubs and parties large and small in the US and internationally. His mixes are expressions of the alignment between mashups and bass-heavy dance floor beats. Zack’s style of Mashup-meets-Bass-music-fusion allow him to follow all of his passions, old and new, merging Breakbeats, House, Dubstep and Mid-Tempo Hip Hop, with Reggae, New Wave, Folk, Funk, Soul and especially classic Rock favorites – remixed, retooled, repurposed for the dance floor.

Zack continues to feed the flames of the music community through his event production and emcee efforts. For 13 years he was the lead producer of Harmony Festival’s Mystic Beat Lounge Techno-Tribal Dance, After Dark Producer for Harmony Festival, North Bay Burning Man Regional Contact (2005-2011), co-founder of the nightclub event Decadance and resident DJ at the legendary party Juke Joint. He has emceed for Wakarusa Festival, Reggae on the River, Northern Nights and many others. 

Zack’s fanbase is loyal and enthusiastic for his positive energy and uplifting tracks that frequently offer the audience the chance to sing their favorite lyrics as they dance the night away.
