Four years ago, during the Summer of 2019, I released a mix for Party People Sound Solutions, the Victoria-based promotions company run by local legend Jeff Lingwood (Dj Primitive). Jeff wanted me to create a mini mix that essentially represents my more ‘lounge’ style of djing and also showcases some of the vibes that I bring to Lure; the classy little spot where I spend my Saturday nights in the Delta Hotel. At the time, Feel Trip was uploaded to Mixcloud, and it wasn’t until just a month ago that I rediscovered it, and decided that it needed some dreamy album art and a new home on SC. A lot of classic Nu Jazz from the mid-2000s in this one, and a handful of my fave Lofi house artists. She’s a short one, but honestly, this mix is literally good for anytime, anywhere. I first started hearing this style of music in the Spring of 2022, but didn’t know what it was called. I poached a SoundCloud mix from a bar in Montreal, and then a few months later my buddy Jason showed me some fire tracks. 
Within a week of discovering that it was called "amapiano,” I had produced this mix. I kept tweaking it for a few months and pretty much finished it back in January 2023. But it’s taken 8 months for me to finish the artwork. I custom designed the font and a big thanks goes to my friend Erynn for helping to finish it.

"10 years of Bliss Coast and the journey goes on. Each year has been a monumental effort and my long-term goal to achieve 10 volumes comes to completion with the release of Muse & Marvel. Over the years many fans have told me how much they still love volume 1, Grass & Gospel. So to round out the series I decided to revisit the year one theme and produce another set of bluegrass and gospel songs refreshed for the festival dancefloor and maximum smiles. Mark Woodyard Live at Bass Coast 2023

This year I had the distinct honor of being the first DJ of the year for the Sebastopol Ecstatic Dance in Northern California. Coincidentally, many years ago, I helped start the Sebastopol Ecstatic Dance with some of my dearest friends. I was the first DJ to play an Ecstatic Dance in Sebastopol. It was kind of a homecoming for me as I love the Ecstatic Dance format, but haven't been playing in this world for a while... since my 3 year tour with Wanderlust Festival which ended a while back.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this set I put together and dance through the journey I offered to the amazing room of dancers and friends. Thank you, Loi for keeping the flame alive. ;)

This is my tribute to the one and only Pumpkin. He inspired me, one late summer afternoon, when I stumbled upon his live set at LIB in 2012. From then on, I made sure to catch every live show of his that I possibly could & every damn time the energy I felt on the dance floor was better than any other dance floor. It was always packed with many, many smiling faces full of new & old friends, brought together. History in the making - I knew right then and there that this is what it was all about. After hearing of his tragic passing in 2016, I felt a strong calling to carry on the duty of spreading love on the dance floor. It was at that point, when I started taking DJing more seriously on a more public scale. So this is for you, the fans, the ones who never got to know who he was, and Nick the Neck, up there in the sky, dancing in paradise. 🌰

A Dance in Paradise

Zack Darling is a mashup, bass/dubstep, house, downtempo, yoga and reggae DJ from Northern California who is widely known for a diverse and eclectic style of dance music.

Zack is a 2-time winner oF the “Best DJ in the North Bay” award and has shared the stage with artist such as Mix Master Mike, Michael Franti, Slightly Stoopid, Metallica, Matisyahu, Rebelution, Phutureprimitive, Beats Antique, Delhi 2 Dublin, Kayla Scintilla and countless festival headliner artists and DJs. He’s played at venues such as The Fillmore (SF), Shoreline Amphitheater, Regency Ballroom as well as some of the biggest festivals, concerts and nightclubs around the US West Coast. Zack’s music has been featured at Wanderlust Festival, Enchanted Forest Festival, Symbiosis Gathering, Lightning in a Bottle, Envision Festival, Raindance Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, BottleRock Napa Valley, Ecstatic Dance Oakland, Burning Man, Lucidity Festival, Emerald Cup, Northern Nights, Bliss Camp, HushFest, Foreverland and the legendary Skunk Train parties. 

His unique style of classic rock & mashup dance floor fusion has built him loyal audiences at festivals, clubs, concerts, living rooms and car stereos. Zack’s DJ career spans over 25 years and began as a 14 year old electro-reggae-punk DJ playing late night sessions on public and pirate radio stations in Northern California. He’s since dropped multi-genre-smackdown dance sets on night clubs and parties large and small in the US and internationally. His mixes are expressions of the alignment between mashups and bass-heavy dance floor beats. Zack’s style of Mashup-meets-Bass-music-fusion allow him to follow all of his passions, old and new, merging Breakbeats, House, Dubstep and Mid-Tempo Hip Hop, with Reggae, New Wave, Folk, Funk, Soul and especially classic Rock favorites – remixed, retooled, repurposed for the dance floor.

Zack continues to feed the flames of the music community through his event production and emcee efforts. For 13 years he was the lead producer of Harmony Festival’s Mystic Beat Lounge Techno-Tribal Dance, After Dark Producer for Harmony Festival, North Bay Burning Man Regional Contact (2005-2011), co-founder of the nightclub event Decadance and resident DJ at the legendary party Juke Joint. He has emceed for Wakarusa Festival, Reggae on the River, Northern Nights and many others. 

Zack’s fanbase is loyal and enthusiastic for his positive energy and uplifting tracks that frequently offer the audience the chance to sing their favorite lyrics as they dance the night away.
