Caliph Bey, a.k.a. Hollywood Bricks, was born August 24th in Southern Califorina to parents Carnella and Woodrow Bey. Caliph is the middle child of the family and has had an ear for music ever since the age of 7 when he started playing drums. Whenever Micheal Jackson records would be playing, he got out there and danced. Growing up in a gang infested neighborhood as a child, he witnessed numerous violent acts and lots of people strung out on drugs. Though his pops left him early in his life, his mom worked two jobs to hold the family down. After seeing too much murder and crime, his mother decided to move the family to Carson, California. It was in this Los Angeles suburb, where caliph became involved in hip hop and overall music in general. Around 5th grade, Caliph started studying artists like LL Cool J, Blacksheep, Jungle Brothas, Dela Soul and Tribe called Quest. Also, his mentor "Squeak" sat him down one day and showed Caliph how to write his first rhyme.

At that time, Caliph was in the 7th grade and after getting in trouble a lot, Caliphs mother decided it was time to move her son and family out of Carson. This time, they moved to Lakewood, California and is where Caliph met his childhood friends and future "7dynasty" crew: BJ Grafton, Kevin Grafton, Chris Boston and Matthew Smith. The group was sort of like a west coast wu tang and broke up in 1997, but BJ, Caliph and friend Omar Bradley started a new groupe called 3rd Demention. The name was later changed to Conglamerant. The group went on to create a good buzz doing local shows but never landed a major deal, and after a clash of egos, the group folded. Caliph later ran into the godfather of his oldest son, Damion "Gflow" Smith of Relicent productions and inked a deal with him, which allowed Caliph to do songs with Dr. Dre's former Aftermath artist Truth Hurts, Sly Boogie, Slaughter House Crookdi and many more.

Again, the music never really took off on the lable, however the two remain good friends to this day. In 2007, Caliph met up with good friend Joshua Conet. A.k.a. "ch!ef" and they formed a group called "The Worriers." Their run in the biz was cut short due to alcohol, drugs and the birth of Caliph's first child. With legal troubles piling up, Caliph began drinking and using more and more drugs until he checked into rehab in 2010. He did a lot of soul searching during the 8 months he was there. This was also a time for Caliph to work on his craft and write out new songs and rhymes and most importantly, he regained his relationship with God. When Caliph came out of rehab, he was clear minded and ready to go. Since then, Caliph has found work at The Home Depot where he met Brian "Bc" Curtiss and George Martinez. Along with creating new music with Bc and George, Caliph has once again returned to music under the name "Hollywood Bricks" and its not over yet. Hollywood Bricks has just begun...
