After reaching 3 million streams and allowing the emergence of several newcomers last year, Records Collection takes a step back and updates the second edition of its compilation series. It is with the same willing to give its definition of Pop Music that [2018] was made by Dcontract’s music agency. It is on the side of songwriting that « Records » has leaned by going for the most delicate songs of next year.

Pakem, who had already made a big hit with his single I Can’t Let You Go and I Got You, supported by The Magician, Martin Solveig and BBC Radio, opens the festivities with «Never Missing Love», a love song in Electronic clothing that reconciles pop efficiency and complexity of feelings. The Parisian band Supernaive enchains with its intransigent pop, the title «Sacrifice» with this syncopated saxophone imposes a new definition of the word «catchy»! Arrives the Ivorian Ibrahim Keita who takes the afropop on a walk in the verdant countryside of the RnB, with the melancholy yet festive «À ce qui paraît». The mysterious Tachyons brings an unexpected breath of melancholy « à la James Blake », with «Burn», which sustained by a singular musicality leads us into a sweet reverie. Arif.Omari and Frankliin take us off the beaten track to offer us a detour through Brazil with the title «Ventoso» which gives a special resonance to the compilation, paying tribute to a rich and luxuriant musical heritage. It is then with a remix that the Picard Brothers come back after the release of their single «Running From Your Life» on Records Collection. Their acolyte Romansslon gives a second life to their single instilling an electrifying and destructured
energy. The American Kendall Elijah Dynamite with «Don’t Push» proposes a fusion Folk & Soul which with its purified writing is the definition of an effective songwriting without excess, in the silky restraint of a summer night. Nalaa with «Splittered Window» offers us, as a finale, an ode to the spleen imprinted of finesse and romanticism, which emanates an unstoppable intensity that leaves speechless.

[2018] thus announces the fulgurating comeback of «songs», in all their forms, in the contemporary pop music landscape, thereby removing all obsolescence from the concept of song, thereby restoring to it its letters of nobility and this for the greatest pleasure of our ears.
