Berlin based SLV DE makes a welcome return to Soma with his latest release, Gestern und Heute EP. Having gradually built himself to be one of the most exciting prospects on the Soma roster, SLV DE continues to impressive with his dark yet emotive sound. This release also features a spectacular remix from rising UK Techno act Cleric.

The melancholic Artefakt opens the EP with its wonderfully crafted syncopated beats and cold, haunting synth work. Kreuzwege has SLV back on four to the floor territory and working a real dance floor burning as tweeked out leads are bolstered by typical powerful drum work from SLV. Jetzt keeps things moving at a fast pace yet brings a more emotive side. Intense percussive workouts drive the tracks with fleeting pads taking the tone of the tracks to other heights. Cleric takes on Artefakt and delivers a suitably punchy, furious rework yet still retains the essence of the original.

Another unique release has SLV DE standing out from the crowd with his distinctive sound.

Soma present a special collaboration between label heads Slam and another of Techno’s top tier duos, Obscure Shape & SHDW. With both of these acts currently at peak form, Oblique Strategies is the culmination of a shared vision where both styles of production shine through on every track. Starting as a singular idea, shared between the pairings, each then took their turn to put their own stamp on the tracks. The title track „Freefall“ is an apocalyptic peaktime bomb; heavily distorted vocals laid on top of a relentless groove.

„Power Of Imagination“ also features an infectious vocal, paired with distorted synth stabs.

The third original „Mass“ follows up in similarly energetic fashion, replacing the vocal with equally effective synths.

OFF mainstay Toni Dextor offers a remix, taking a no-nonsense-approach in his unforgiving dark and toolish style.

Raul Young & Dave Wincent - Forced Rest (PRRUKD20067)

Keith Carnal's techno has a signature sound that draws on rich melodies and locked-in groove - it is made for dancing but comes with an ominous feeling of melancholy that makes a lasting impact.

He kicks off his latest powerful missive with the driving, rock solid kicks of 'Hope', a dark and alluring track where the heavenly synths bring the only light to the groove. 'Endless' is a peak-time cut that will have you riding on the edge of your seat thanks to its high speed arps and icy hi hats, all racing along over more firmly rooted kick drums.

Carnal's cultured studio craftsmanship is laid bare once more on the pounding, stripped back yet compelling 'Daily Route' which is linear techno with a soulful synth sound that takes you well into the future on a mysterious vibe. Closer 'Sadly Mistaken' has taught, pining kick drums and spooky howling synth sounds that are brilliantly unsettling as you march onwards.
