اسم الكاتب هو أوّل ما ستبدأ بنسيانه
ثم عنوان الرواية حتمًا، الحبكة
الخاتمة المحطّمة للقلب، الرواية بأكملها 
والتي أصبحت فجأة رواية لم تقرأها من قبل
ولم تسمع بها من الأساس


كما لو أن الذكريات التي كنت تحفظها واحدة تلو الأخرى
قررت أن تتقاعد وتتجه إلى نصف الكرة الجنوبي من الدماغ
إلى قرية صيد سمك صغيرة، حيث لا توجد هواتف


منذ وقت طويل قبّلتَ أسماء آلهات الإلهام التسع وودعتهنّ
وشاهدت معادلات الدرجة الثانية تحزم حقائبها وترحل
وحتى وأنت الآن تحفظ ترتيب الكواكب
هناك شيء آخر ينزلق من ذاكرتك، اسم زهرة ولاية ربما
عنوان أحد أعمامك، عاصمة البارغواي


مهما كان الذي تعاني الآن لتتذكره
هو ليس على طرف لسانك
ولا حتى كامن في زاوية غامضة من طحالك


لقد أبحر بعيدًا إلى الأسفل باتجاه نهر أسطوري مظلم

حسب ما تتذكر
بينما أنت الآن في طريقك إلى عالم النسيان
لتنضم لأولئك الذين نسوا مهارة السباحة وحتى كيف تقاد الدراجة
