Many apologies for the lack of a podcast in the recent weeks.The recent opening of SeekersHub Toronto (<a href="http://SeekersHub.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://SeekersHub.org</a>), and the intense Ramadan programming there had kept my wife and I very busy.

So now, I'm back, and will do my best to be more regular, insha'Allah.

This song is an English translation by Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad, of an originally Turkish song by Yunus <a href="http://Emre.In" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Emre.In</a> his mastery of the English language, he has managed to maintain rhyme and meter of the Turkish original.

I'd always found one of the popular tunes for this song especially captivating, and had written a song called "The Quest" to this tune on the first album.This song follows the original tune and song structure more closely.

The song is essentially an exercise in intercession, through all the things and people one considers as held close by God.

The recording for both the lead vocals and the voice layering backing vocals was done with Blue's Yeti Pro microphone, mounted upside down on a boom microphone stand, straight into my Mac's GarageBand. I'm *really* liking this microphone.

In this dars Shaykh Abdur-Rahman continues to describe ways in which one can gain the true love of Allah. The Shaykh mentions signs of the lovers of Allah and reveals an act of worship which is necessary for the seeker of the path to be engaging in to become part of this elite group. Finally, Shaykh Abdur-Rahman mentions the invaluable advices that the great Tabi'i Uways al-Qarni gave to Haram ibn Hayyan regarding the traits of Allah's Friends.

Traits Of The Friends Of Allah

In this lecture, Shaykh Abdur-Rahman begins by mentioning the ayah regarding the believers: “Those who believe are intensely in love with Allah” The Shaykh differentiates between superficial and true love. He mentions that Allah has placed the attraction for beauty in our hearts, therefore it should only be natural that we incline to the love of Allah as He is most perfect in all His attributes. Love has requirements. For one to claim their love to be sincere, their actions must mirror their emotion of their heart. The way of this path helps the seeker to build their love for Allah with increased adhkhars while at the same time pushing away the false love for this world. The Shaykh mentions the importance of this and that in ones heart a person either has the love for Allah or the world, they cannot co-exist.

Requirements For The Love For Allah

In this lecture, Shaykh Abdur-Rahman highlights the dangers of lying, how serious of a sin it is and its effects on one's declaration of faith. Shaykh mentions the ayah of the Qur'an in which Allah addressing the believers advises: “Fear Allah and be with the truthful ones” and goes on to impart practical advises on how one can safeguard themselves from speaking falsehood and what to do on occasions when one is confronted with tales regarding another person.

Why Is Lying So Bad

A brief talk mentioning the simple yet weighty act of recognising and appreciating ones bounties (doing Shukr) and how it easily brings one close to their Creator.
