Standing in this corner.
He knows he did nothing wrong.
Teacher's a snake charmer.
Class spits venom to her song.
Doesn't matter anyway.
She didn't pay attention.
He was just a shadow on the wall that day.

He asks the peeling walls questions...
One's nobody has answers for:
"What's wrong with me?"
"What did I do this time?"

If shame could bleed, he'd wear its stains.
Like war paint down his face.
All they did was teach him how to hide,
How to cower and to survive.
Shame he was born to burn.
Not to live a quiet life.
Daddy wasn't even there.
Mommy doesn't even care.


More endless taunts.
Dried-out thoughts in his skull.
Knuckles cracked like chalk,
Another black eye for the roll.
Letters written on the whiteboard.
Spell out the names they've thrown.
Like knives stuck in his back.
And bruises carved in bone.

If shame could bleed, he'd flood the floor,

In 2010 Anathema released We’re Here Because We’re Here, the band’s first new album for almost seven years. The album was awarded Classic Rock’s Prog Album of the Year as well as a host of other accolades and the producer, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), has described it as “definitely among the best albums I’ve ever had the pleasure to work on.”
The band now return with Weather Systems, their brand new studio album. The album will be available as a limited edition 2 disc set which will come packaged in a deluxe digibook and feature a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album.

Anathema have been at the forefront of the UK rock/metal movement for many years. They began their journey as pioneers of melodic heavy music, influencing a myriad of bands to follow them, before outgrowing all genres and limitations as they fearlessly explored new territory and new ways to express feeling through sound.

Formed in Liverpool in 1990, the band’s sound, and musical vision has continually evolved over the ensuing years while always remaining true to their original goal of creating forward thinking, meaningful, passionate and honest music. The line-up is really a collective of two families who were quite simply born to do it. Anathema consists of brothers Vincent, Daniel and Jamie Cavanagh, alongside childhood friends John Douglas and his sister Lee, who is an incredible singer in her own right.

There is a deeper bond in the group that transcends usual band politics, ego, and self-interest. They have a shared vision: to make the most incredible music they possibly can, and it seems, despite the lavish praise heaped on the band for their past work, that they are now taking their work to a whole new level.
