'Be strass' is a music project born in the autumn of 2013 in between Firenze and Bologna.This project starts from an idea of Leonardo and Iacopo,concerning a confrontation of musical influences that sweep over new wave(much more instrumental) and shoegaze of 90's;the unexpected outcome is generally a sort of a dreamy weave between vocal melodies of two singers and instrumental melodies.

Following recent releases for Parisian institution Ed Banger Records, a huge collaboration with rising vocalist Meleka, and his own Battle Weapons free download series tailored for the dancefloor, the UK’s resident genre-blurring boy wonder, Riton aka Henry Smithson, announces a brand new EP for Nest.

Title track ‘I Am The Whisper’ finds Bad Guy Ri Ri in a darker, deeper mode than previous releases, with vaguely sinister spoken word vocals from London-based singer/songwriter Molly Beanland peppering a propulsive beat and acid stabs. “I’m warning you, once we start we’ll never stop,” she threatens. B-side ‘Dance With Moi’ punches hard from the get go, expertly melding techno, electro and house influences in true Riton style.

"Mix is straight up a collection of where I am right now – rave noises and breakbeat kind of vibe, lots of hi hats smacking around off each other, rollers, pitched down jungle. Pitched up house, bells, bleeps and a bit of the old tambourine. At heart I’m a Junglist still, I guess I always will be, and you can probably hear that tinted in the things I do even though it might not be 170bpm. There’s loads of new stuff in here, some old, some things off the album, something off the new Bantam Lions album… all the usual stuff. It’s dark in bits and not so dark in others. There’s no trance in it, which is a great shame."

MNQ 038 LIGHT HOUSE - IN THEIR IMAGE 12'' EP

 
Mannequin Records is simply elated to present the debut 12'' EP from Light House. 

Light House have been kicking around Portland for two years. The band contains Chris Relyea, an ex member from The Rapture, Dawn Sharp and Brooks Blackhawk from Atriarch. Excellent dark wave with spacious mixes, minimal synths, reverb drenched guitars and eerie malevolent vocals that either pierces your heart or your spinal cord.

Originally released in United States by Freee record label in 2012 and recorded on pure analog tape, ‘In Their Image’ EP illuminates the romantic and elemental nature of Light House's dreamlike sound, a moody, theatrical dirge which brings to mind classic 4AD acts such as Dead Can Dance and This Mortal Coil. 

To celebrate this relaunch Light House will be touring America and Europe, hitting the West Coast in mid June to coincide with Warm Leatherette in San Francisco, then onto New York and making their way along the East Coast. 

Light House is music that lulls the Etheric body awake, in a hypotetical world where Tropic Of Cancer meets Soft Metals.
