Inheriting that ‘wonky’ sound which has come to define east midlands club music over the last decade where Kate was raised and what resonates the dynamic bleeps and grooving, glitchy rhythms which occupy the foci of her diverse yet definitive record bag. Kate has seen an exponential rise over recent years via sets at festivals and venues both at home and afar such as Wigflex, The Lion & Lamb, Corsica Studios and securing regular slots with her own party at Tola and Brilliant Corners, then guesting on radio shows such as NTS and Berlin's HÖR. Now working on her own productions and relocating to Europe this winter for more music endeavours whilst remaining active in London.

Part of Uruguay's burgeoning Phonoteque family, Stonem is as uncompromising in his sound as he is in his DJ sets. Diirus combines the minimal sound with groove and his typical dark element. Where you find yourself tripping with the atmosphere and dancing until late morning, you probably caught one of his performs. On his real name, Darius, powerful inspired by his favorite artist Rhadoo, is playing music since 2019 at local clubs from his hometown Craiova, he shared the decks with: Nu Zau, Kozo, Lizz, Crihan, Ada Kaleh, Funk E and started experimenting with production on 2020. Diirus recently started a new electronic music lable Orpheus.

This recording is an extract from the Twilight set of Dubtil at Club Guesthouse. The party is an invite only event series at the club. Dubtil closed the night which saw guests such as Cezar, Edward, Vlada, SIT, among others, this is the first 2hrs extract of a 6hrs set at my dear home club. 

Having been there for this night and this closing set, I chose to put it out on the Toi Toi Mix Series not only because Dubtil has become part of our agency roster, in fact, it is because of things like this he is but also because this represents the milestone of my exploration in Romania. 

Charged with a reputation I always disliked, of being ‘flat and boring’ some Romanian artists have been unfairly judged and Dubtil is the primary example of that, he showed me here that this country has a pool of talents which are yet to be uncovered and oh boy, how enlightening to see them surface. Following on from the legacy that made him grow as an artist he shows here true djing by what djing should stand for. An extremely well structure and diverse peak time set which broke me in a 1000 pieces in positive surprise when being on his dance floor, elegantly 'ballsy'.  

This comes to reassure that my belief in the talents in this country is real, that for these past 10 months I have been here I continue to be shocked when these boys become a surprise box of amazing music research, killer mixing and structure, leading of course, to the highest standard of Djing, anything but flat or boring but rather enlightening and energising, full of personality and character, just what I want to see on dance floors​ hence why I stand proudly by it. ​



Thank you Dubtil for showing me this and for reassuring my faith in this country which I chose as my home.
