It would seem that there was something in the water in Italy during the tail end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s. We recently highlighted this via our recent Free Download artist, but another Italian artist who is just as influential is Francesco Farfa. Incredibly, he was already a working DJ by the early 80s and that was before the age of electronic music. This just meant when the advent of drum machines dawned across the music spectrum Francesco was already armed to the teeth with skills honed playing funk and disco when early proto-house began filtering through to Europe. Bucharest-based DJ and producer Sorin Ionita aka Metafore is one of the artists from Zebra Rec agency and the founder of the Louderground Musique label.

During the summer season for the last 8 years, until two years ago, he was resident at Molotov Vama Veche, where he invited various artists to perform and delight the people through his and their music.

Aside from these adventures by the sea, he performed in many local and abroad venues alongside artists like Sepp, Charlie, Lizz, Macarie, Crihan, Radu Mirica, Primarie, Los Bastoneros, Core, Vern, Mihai Pol and many others. Trained in piano and visual arts, Metafore sure delivers the vibes wherever he performs.

When it comes to production, he takes his time in the studio, crafting his own sounds with great care and attention to detail since 2016. Aside from the independent releases, some of his works have been published by labels like Zebra rec, Podvodo, Stamp, Vivus, Dinsubsol, Tzinah and Ensis Black.

Metafore delivers a new sound in his repertoir with this three-track EP, taking us on a groovy sound journey, based on house and minimal elements. The acid complementary layers and carefully sculpted synth work, creates engaging punchy sounds, makeing it an ideal tool for peak time moments in any set.

MLCH, based in Hong Kong, is the creative force behind FuFu Creative and FuFu Records. A true music lover, he co-founded Shi Fu Miz Festival and Pitch, and more recently Sunda Festival in Singapore. With a passion for diverse rhythms, MLCH crafts eclectic sets that blend zouk, acid, disco-funk, Afrobeat and deep house. Co-curator of pivotal imprint Klasse Wrecks, Mr. Ho has had an immeasurable impact on the bass and bleep end of the house and techno spectrum. Hailing from Hong Kong, there are few areas of this community that both Mr. Ho and his Klasse Wrecks imprint have not influenced. Having forged an enviable discography, the HK native has touched down on labels such as DJ Masda’s Cabaret Recordings, ESP Institute, Modern Funktion, Altered Circuits, Love International's new Floor Series, and of course, a regular slew of additions to his own imprint. Black Pomade is a DJ and producer originally from Milan (Italy), now calling New York home after leaving his mark in Lisbon's growing scene. He’s the mastermind behind the Ruínas collective and the Whoopee party series.

Heavily inspired by the NY Disco scene and the Chicago House pioneers, he's made a name for himself with a melting pot of analog synths, groovy basslines, and syncopated beats. His sets are a proper journey through House, Disco, and Acid records, always leaving the dance floor buzzing with energy and big grins all around.

Next up in our longstanding mix series we are delighted to showcase a man who could be described as a pioneer of house music. Brawther has been steadily casting a spell upon the genre for many years now, his music having been championed by the likes of Kerri Chandler, Ron Trent, Chez Damier and Jeremy Underground. He has released music on a far reaching number of record labels including the likes of Cabinet Records, Secretsundaze, My Love Is Underground, Balance and Jazzy Couscous. He has built a firm following amidst house and techno communities and has toured with relentless pace in recent years with a reputable string of appearances worldwide. 

This set was recorded at a special location in Berlin and was captured live from the booth at Club der Visionaere. For those of you who have been previously then you will note the nature of the sound, setting and place in the utmost detail. For those who have not, close your eyes and imagine.
