"To be honest: Preparing this set was weird for me. One year into the pandemic and my inspiration seems to have disappeared completely...
this is why I tried to bring together all genres of music that I enjoy the most and that make me feel warm and fuzzy: (jazzy) house, disco & funk. 

What's my view on the scene? When I started DJing over 10 years ago I was lucky to land in a bubble, where I met so many wonderful people and where gender equality was important and already a lived standard (most of the time). I felt respected and valued from the very start by the majority of people, wether fellow DJs, event organizers or people in the audience. I know that this is not a reality for everyone, but really hope that it will be very soon - everyone deserves this.

ZENA MIXSERIES No. 43 - Lusja

It has finally arrived. This EP is a live set of 6 my original jazz/jazz-adjacent compositions recorded shortly before the pandemic. You’ll hear from the likes of myself on piano and rhodes, Simba Distis on upright and electric bass, and Dr Mimmi Mured on drums. These cats are like extensions of me considering how well they play and understand my music. I never have to tell them what to do because they already know what I want. I’m truly honored to have them on the record.

My buddy Chris Rodriguez did the cover art. He was a joy to work with and absolutely nailed it- it really puts you in the space! I highly recommend Chris for all your art needs. He is the man.

One of my closest friends, Tom Kendall Hughes, mixed and mastered the record. I cannot say enough about this man. He brought the music to life and brought out so much depth and color I didn’t even know existed! Not to mention that he’s been my rock during this whole pandemic. One of the most talented and genuine people I have the pleasure of knowing.
